Sean Payton has not commented publicly on whether or not he destroyed the fire alarm
Perhaps unsatisfied with merely annihilating Cincinnati's defense on Sunday, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton admittedly destroyed a locker room fire alarm at Paul Brown Stadium before the 51-14 win, prompting Bengals staff to alert authorities.
The alarm had been sounding for about 15 consecutive minutes prior to the Week 10 matchup, and a frustrated Payton responded by smashing it to help his team maintain its focus before the game.
'Clearly we were having issues with the fire alarm at a time relative to 20 minutes, 30 minutes before we're supposed to be out,' Payton told reporters Monday, as quoted by ESPN. 'And it continued, it had gone on for 10 minutes. And I just needed the noise to stop,' Payton said.
It's unclear if he destroyed it with his hands or an object, but the splintered red fire alarm was pictured on New Orleans Times-Picayune Saints beat writer Josh Katzenstein's twitter account after the game.

'And I gladly will take care of the repair cost,' Payton said. 'And I consider the Brown family [Bengals ownership] and that organization as close allies and people we have a lot of respect for, the same way with [Bengals coach Marvin Lewis]. And it was just something that had gone on - and in order for us as we got ready for the game, I thought that was important.'
The alarms clearly did not affect Saints quarterback Drew Brees, whose three touchdown passes moved him into second place on the career list, passing Brett Favre with 509. Brees stands 30 touchdown passes behind all-time leader Peyton Manning.
The 39-year-old Brees completed 22 of 25 passes for 265 yards in slightly more than three quarters before giving way to reserve quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
In stretching their league-best winning streak to eight games, the Saints (8-1) dominated from start to finish, scoring touchdowns on six of their first nine possessions, with the other three drives ending in field goals of 29, 42 and 41 yards by Wil Lutz.
The Saints, who have punted a league-low 19 times in nine games, did not punt against the Bengals (5-4).
The Saints held huge advantages in total yardage (509-284), plays (74-43) and first downs (33-13). New Orleans also converted 7-of-12 third downs and held the Bengals without a first down on six tries.
The Saints opened with a 15-play, 75-yard drive which consumed 8:30 of the first quarter and ended with Brees' 7-yard pass to Michael Thomas at the left pylon.
But the Saints blew open the game with four consecutive touchdowns in the second quarter. Ingram made it 14-7 on a perfectly executed 28-yard screen pass, Kamara ran 4 yards for a 21-7 lead and followed that with a 1-yard sweep around right end.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
