«Breaking News» Queensland stabbing: Teen released from custody as tributes flow for victims

A baby-faced teenager who was expected to be charged with two counts of murder over the stabbing deaths of two Good Samaritans has been released from custody.

Dean Webber, 19, was allowed to walk free on Tuesday morning as police continue to investigate the deaths of Corey Christensen, 37 and Tom Davy, in a quiet Queensland town, early on Monday morning.

Webber was expected to be charged after being taken in for questioning on Monday, but was released on Tuesday morning pending an ongoing investigation.

It comes as tributes have flowed for father-of-three Mr Christensen and Mr Davy, who has been remembered by devastated friends as a 'huge kind-hearted bloke'.

'It is with a heavy heart that I have lost a brother,' Mr Davy's friend Dane Stanley said.

'You grew up to be one massive unit but to all of us that knew you, you were just one huge kind hearted bloke that gave plenty back and had a massive future.

'There was nothing you couldn't do. So much talent.'

Mr Christensen and Mr Davy were reportedly watching the NRL grand final together at a home in the seaside town of Alva Beach, south of Townsville, on Sunday night.

A few hours later a screaming Candice Locke, 29, reportedly banged on the home's front door begging to be let inside.

Ms Locke was reportedly running away from Webber, who is said to have arrived at the house shortly afterwards with a group of men.

It is understood Webber was an occupant of the house that has been owned by his family for more than 30 years and is known by locals as 'Webber's Hut'.

Police will allege Webber stabbed Mr Christensen and Mr Davy to death on the road after a brawl broke out between the two groups.

It's unknown what sparked the brawl, with police currently interviewing witnesses to understand the relationships of those involved.

Paramedics arrived at the scene just after midnight to find the two men bleeding on the road outside the house with critical stab wounds.

The pair were pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to administer CPR were unsuccessful.

Ms Locke was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder.

Detective Inspector Chris Lawson said emergency services were called to a 'horrific scene'.

'It was a horrific scene to arrive there and find two people, you're talking about the dead of night when it's totally dark,' he said.

'People with those sorts of injuries in the middle of the street will obviously affect those that had to go there and provide that first aid.

'It's harrowing.'

Alva local Brett Ward told 9 News the double stabbing had rocked the quiet town.

'When you wake up and your daughter asks 'is that a body bag on the side of the road?' ... I feel bloody terrible,' he told the publication.

'We live in a nice quiet area and when something like this happens it's just f***ing disgusting.

'It's not looking like a nice scenario.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
