«Breaking News» Suspected killer's cousin 'unknowingly helped move dead body after seeing suspect clean off blood'

The cousin of a man accused of beating and stabbing to death a Temple University student inside his Philadelphia apartment after she refused to have anal sex with him, told a court he unknowingly helped move the body.

Erik Carlson told the court, on the second day of the murder trial for suspect Joshua Hupperterz, 30, that he lugged a blue tote containing 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh's remains but didn't ask what was inside the heavy bag.

He claimed in court on Wednesday: 'I said, "Dang, this is heavy".'

Carlson admitted he saw Hupperterz cleaning up blood inside the property that he visited to buy marijuana, but said that Hupperterz told him he'd cut his hand on a beer bottle.

The man whose uncle was married to Hupperterz's mother for six years, explained how his cousin seemed 'normal' as they smoked together before the assailant loaded the dead woman into his trunk that afternoon.

Hupperterz, who Carlson had known from childhood, arrived at his mother's house nearby then got the help of his ride-sharing driver to load the corpse into another trunk.

Stating that it 'felt like bricks' the driver told the court Hupperterz paid him $200 and asked him to switch off the company's app, which has GPS tracking, as they drove out 100 miles.

The driver said Hupperterz took a nap during the trip to his grandparents house where his grandfather reported he'd found the body in a storage container just one day after local authorities and an FBI agent visited the rural Pennsylvania property.

It's believed the suspect transferred the body into a container and stored in a shed at the home and the large bin was displayed in court Wednesday, NBC 4 reported.

Hupperterz had Burleigh over at his apartment after first meeting at a bar in North Philadelphia earlier in the night.

He rejected a plea deal in December for 30-60 years in prison and claims his roommate Jack Miley killed the woman, strangling her in an attempt for quiet after he heard her scream.

Police have previously said Hupperterz’s statement that Miley murdered the victim was a lie. Miley is set to testify on day 3 of the trial and has not been charged in relation to the student's murder.

Hupperterz pleaded guilty on Tuesday to abuse of corpse and tampering with evidence but pleaded not guilty to murder and possession of an instrument of crime.

Prosecutors told jurors on Tuesday on the first day of testimony that their encounter had started out as consensual but turned violent when Burleigh refused to engage in the sex act.

Hupperterz allegedly beat, stabbed and strangled Burleigh in his apartment before then trying to hide her body.

'You're going to watch and you're going to see how her body was beaten and contorted, and how he tried to cover it up,' Assistant District Attorney Jason Grenell told jurors, according to Philly.com.

Prosecutors told the court that Hupperterz had met the victim at Pub Webb the night of August 31.

Surveillance footage captured the pair leaving when the venue closed at 2am and going back to his apartment a few blocks away.

The prosecutor said evidence would show that the screaming started when Hupperterz tried to have anal sex with the victim.

Burleigh grabbed a kitchen knife as she tried to fight Hupperterz, the court heard. Hupperterz allegedly beat her 38 times and then stabbed her.

Jurors were told that Hupperterz then smashed a bowl over the victim's head and started to strangle her.

Burleigh died from blunt trauma and strangulation.

Hupperterz's murder trial is expected to hear testimony for the rest of the week.

The responding police officer has already testified.

He faces life in prison if he is convicted of first or second degree murder.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
