«Breaking News» Rare one in 30 million calico lobster is found at Maryland seafood market

A rare one in 30 million calico lobster has been discovered at a seafood market and donated to the Georgia Aquarium.

The owner of Ocean City Seafood in Silver Springs, Maryland, who identified himself only as Nicholas, discovered the rare female lobster on December 21 among a catch from Maine. 

Nicholas named the lobster Eve and at first decided to keep it in a special display case at the market for visitors to admire.

To his astonishment, he found that the other lobsters quickly broke through the barrier and surrounded Eve as if to protect the rare calico, according to a statement from the seafood market.

At the urging of his mother, Nicholas contacted the Baltimore Aquarium and learned that calico lobsters are extremely rare.

According to the University of Maine's Lobster Institute, the odds of catching a calico lobster are one in 30 million.

That makes the calico rarer than blue lobsters, yellow lobsters and live red lobster.

Rarer still than the calico is the translucent, or albino, lobster, which is a one in 100 million catch, according to the Institute.

Upon learning of the calico lobster's rarity, Nicholas decided to donate the crustacean to an aquarium.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore picked up Eve over the weekend, and the creature will remain there for a short period before being permanently transferred to the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta.

The market decided to donate the lobster to an aquarium, although PETA has called for the crustacean to be released into the wild

After news of the rare lobster was made public, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals issued an open letter calling for the lobster's release into the wild.  

'Attitudes concerning the treatment of lobsters are changing around the world, as more people realize how sensitive these animals truly are,' PETA Director Danielle Katz wrote in the letter.

She continued: 'Just last summer, a rare blue-colored lobster was liberated by staff members at a restaurant in Portland, Maine, after they became so taken with her that they named her Blue Betty before returning her to the ocean. 

'Please, follow their example by granting Eve her freedom.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
