«Breaking News» Former Illinois Republican lawmaker is charged with 12 felony counts for posting sexual images

A former Illinois state representative who resigned last year amid allegations that he posted explicit photos of an ex-girlfriend online has been indicted on 12 felony counts of disseminating private sexual images.

The charges against Nick Sauer stem from an investigation that revealed two victims, according to a statement from the Lake County State's Attorney's office on Wednesday. 

The probe was first revealed last August when the first-term Lake Barrington Republican announced he was resigning after his ex-girlfriend, Kate Kelly, accused him of sharing the photos on an Instagram account he'd set up under her name.  

The release does not identify the two victims or say if Kelly is one of them.  

Sauer, 35, is expected to surrender himself on the charges by Thursday morning.

According to Politico, Kelly filed complaints with Chicago police and the legislative inspector general against the first-term lawmaker.

In the complaint, Kelly accused Sauer of using the Instagram account 'to catfish other men by using my privately shared naked photos'. 

'Nick would use this account to direct message men with my photos to engage in graphic conversations of a sexual nature. The men believed they were communicating with me and Nick shared private details of my life,' the complaint read.

Kelly told Politico that the two began a long-distance relationship in 2016 after meeting on the dating app Tinder.

In June 2017, Kelly reportedly moved to Chicago to be closer to Sauer but they broke up in March 2018. 

She blames the breakup on him dating other women.   

After their breakup, Kelly claimed Sauer reached out to her and apologized. 

'I quickly realized things wouldn't change and we stopped talking again. Then at the end of June, I told him he needed to reimburse me for flights and hotels, etc,' she told Politico. 

Kelly told the news site that Sauer transferred $2,000 into her bank account to pay for her travel expenses, but it was just a short time later that she discovered the Instagram account.

She then claimed that Sauer admitted 'catfishing men with my photos for 2 years to at least 8 men'. 

'He was unable to provide the names and begged that I let it go,' she alleges. 

The account was taken down by Instagram after Kelly reported the page.  

Sauer was a member of the House Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Task Force and was seeking re-election in November at the time of his resignation. 

In a letter filed to the House clerk's office on August 1, Sauer said his 'ability to fulfill my obligations as a state representative... will be affected by the distraction of addressing these allegations'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
