«Breaking News» Bodyguard's Keeley Hawes stars in gripping new Channel 4 spy drama Traitors 

She gripped the nation with her steely portrayal of Home Secretary Julia Montague in BBC's Bodyguard. 


And Keeley Hawes stars in a new spy period drama, Traitors, where she plays a member of the post-war Civil Service, set to air on Channel 4 next month. 


The actress, 42, plays Priscilla, who becomes concerned that new recruit Feef Symonds, played by Emma Appleton, is working undercover in her own government for the Americans.

The story revolves around Feef bold 20-something woman who joins the Civil Service in 1945, just as the Labour party sweeps to victory, defeating Winston Churchill in an unexpected landslide.

Her ambition to make something of her life goes unrecognised by her family, and is further complicated by her American lover.


She agrees to spy on her own government for the Americans, who want to make sure England’s burgeoning Socialist ambitions don’t play into Soviet hands.

The cast also includes Brandon P Bell and Matt Lauria and the series will air on Channel 4 later this year.


The drama is Boardwalk Empire creator Bash Doran’s first original commission for British TV.


Directed by Dearbhla Walsh, it also stars The Shape Of Water actor Michael Stuhlbarg, Ordeal By Innocence’s Luke Treadaway and Stephen Campbell Moore. 


Last week, Bodyguard's Richard Madden paid a touching tribute to co-star Keeley Hawes at the National Television Awards as he scooped the coveted prize for Best Drama Performance.


The Scottish actor branded his job a privilege after left speechless by the prize, which came after the record-breaking BBC miniseries also scooped the award for Best New Drama.


This also came as Richard teased that a second series of Bodyguard was already in the works, as he told Digital Spy showrunner Jed Mercurio was 'in talks' for a follow-up.

Paying a touching tribute to the show's cast and crew, Richard gushed that it had been a 'privilege' to work as an actor, while also paying tribute to co-star Keeley, who played Home Secretary Julia Montague.


Finally beginning his speech he said: 'Thank you very very much, what an honour I didn't expect thank you to every single person that voted.'


'Big huge thank you to my team, it's a privilege everyday, Jed Mercurio for writing this incredible character. And the biggest thank you to Keeley Hawes I couldn't ask for a better more talented actress.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
