The teaser trailer for the Elton John biopic Rocketman gave fans their first glimpse of Taron Egerton as the music icon during his rise to fame in the 1970s, on Monday.
And the all-singing, all-dancing clip was sure to impress with its striking visuals and spectacular wardrobe which saw the Kingsman: Secret Service star transform into the Tiny Dancer hitmaker.
With the titular track echoing in the background, a character, which seems to be Richard Madden's John Reid, promises that viewers are in for 'a wild ride.'
Rocketman FIRST LOOK: The teaser trailer released on Monday saw Taron Egerton transform into Elton John (pictured right in 1972) in the all-singing, all-dancing musical biopic
This certainly seems to be the case, as the trailer opens with Egerton standing on stage with his arms outstretched as a crowd of adoring fans scream his name.
A boy then runs through a suburban London street, which is full of dancers performing, as the narrator says: 'There are moments in a rockstar’s life that define who he is, where there was darkness there is now you.'
The trailer then cuts to Taron in full Elton-garb, with oversized sunglasses and a white cowboy hat, and as the music begins to reach its peak he's shown on stage playing the piano.
Spot the difference: Director Dexter Fletcher previously told Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye: 'It's about Elton (pictured right in 1971) navigating personal and family relationships'
Magical: Labelled a 'true fantasy', the film takes a more magical tone when Taron performs the title track to a crowd who slowly begin to float in the air
He is then at at a party with his former manager and lover John, and the chemistry between the pair is undeniable as the latter sends a wink the musicman's way.
The film is clearly keeping good on its promise to go all-out and not present Elton's life through rose-tinted glasses, though, as the trailer descends into excess.
Having lavish parties in his mansion, the film shows Elton drinking alone as he looks into the distance sombrely, before he walks up to the pool and falls in it, and is then taken to hospital.

Things aren't all bad though, as the singer seems to be in high spirits as he records in the studio, and dresses up in a number of dazzling outfits, including as a member of royalty, a fiery devil, and even a bedazzled baseball player.

Sir Elton, 71, is working as a co-producer on the film, alongside his husband David Furnish, 55.
The film, which is shooting in London stars Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, who wrote a catalogue of hits with John; and Bryce Dallas Howard and Steven Mackintosh as his parents.

'He looks for love in all the wrong places, he abuses himself with drugs and booze – yet he's a genius who has survived for over half a century in showbusiness.'
Producer Matthew Vaughn added: 'This film is going to make people's jaws hit the ground, Elton just said "Tell it all. Go as R-rated as you need to". And we do just that, with his blessing. The flaws and the genius are all there.'
Although the movie, written by Lee Hall, is based on fact, some of Elton’s story has been fictionalised, while Welsh-born Egerton does his own singing.
The film is slated for release in the UK on May 31 2019, and in the USA on May 17.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
