Stacey Dooley has hit back at critics who have accused her of 'selling out' and opting for 'trivial work' after her Strictly Come Dancing win in December last year.
The documentary maker, 31, announced that she is the new host of BBC reality show Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-up Star, cementing her status as the broadcaster's new darling.
Stacey's new role will see her host a show where ten eager contestants compete to win a contract assisting top make-up artists, judged by L'Oreal's Val Garland and Mac's Dominic Skinner.

Following the negative feedback from the minority of Stacey's fans, she took to Twitter to defend her decision to join the new make-up show.

Replying directly to her commentator, Stacey wrote: 'This is such a Stone Age assumption. You can care about human issues, the planet and also be into fashion. You can also take time out to look after yourself mentally'.
She later tweeted: 'For those telling me you're suddenly doing 'trivial' work... I've been filming stories covering rape, incest drugs, murder and war for a decade.
'It's a privilege to cover these issues, but I also need to take time out to enjoy the lighter side of life.'
Stacey went on to pay credit to the 'incredibly talented' dancers and make-up artists she has worked alongside, while slamming the idea that talent is 'exclusively measured on how intellectual you are'.

She added: 'Also. Dancers and make-up artists are incredibly talented. I'm lucky to work alongside them.
'The idea that talent is exclusively measured on how academic or intellectual you are is SO ridiculous. Snobbery and judgement not really my thing.
'Anyway. Off to nail my routine.'

One Twitter user offered some reassurance to the broadcaster, writing: 'Appearing in something that appeals to a typically wider 'prime-time audience' may also encourage people to revisit your earlier work as well, who hadn't previously seen any of it.'
While another said: 'Whatever you do Stacey I love it. Keep being you.'
A third wrote: 'You don't have to justify your career choices to anyone. Maybe some people are worried they'll miss the docs you make which they so love but in time they'll see you're still you & awesome to watch.'
Stacey's other new role's include a contributing editor role at Grazia magazine, and there's a signing tour in the offing for the paperback version of her book.
That's in addition to her appearance in the Strictly Come Dancing UK Tour that starts its 29-show later this month, with her upcoming projects predicted to net her £1.2M.
'It looks set to be a bumper year for Stacey whose bubbly, girl next door personality has been likened to Holly Willoughby - now one of the highest paid women on TV,' PR agent Claire Shiels told Femail.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
