A woman who dropped from a dress size 28 to a size 10 has not only lost weight, but possibly saved her own life by slimming down.
Tina Mathias, 40, from Pembrokeshire in Wales, tipped the scales at 23st 9lbs and was a UK size 28 at her largest.
For nine years unbeknownst to her, Tina's excess weight had been masking a non-cancerous growth, which weighed a whopping 9lbs, in her womb.
During this time in her life, Tina and her husband were having IVF and routine scans picked up that there was something in her womb, which doctors believed was a hormonal growth or a bi-product of the treatment
But after losing 13 stone with the help of a diet plan, the doctors were finally able to detect the fybroid, something that would have gone unnoticed had she not lost the weight.
'In 2011 I came to LighterLife with the hope of getting healthy and to improve my chances of falling pregnant,' she explained. 'It honestly changed my life forever!'
Tina has lost a whopping 12st 8lb and is now a slinky dress size 10/12. She has described her weight loss journey as something which 'honestly changed my life forever!'
For nine years unbeknown to Tina her excess weight had been masking a growth in her womb. Above, Tina tipped the scales at 23st 9lb at her heaviest and was a UK size 28
Gorging on sugary cereal, fry ups and even chocolate for breakfast, Tina would then tuck into a large crusty baguette filled with cheese and mayonnaise, followed by a bag of salt and vinegar crisps and a chocolate bar.
For dinner, she would have either spaghetti bolognese and a whole loaf of garlic bread to herself, pizza, or a calorie-laden Chinese takeaway, which she then washed down with at least eight cans of fizzy drink a day.
At her heaviest, Tina weighed 23st 9lb and finally reached breaking point when she had to buy size 28 clothes.
'I was due to attend a funeral and went to purchase a new pair of trousers; to my shock I could not fit into a size 22 or 24.
'Giving in and buying the size 28 was a devastating revelation for me and I even broke the zip on those trousers.
'A friend who had confronted me about my lifestyle and in no uncertain terms told me, 'You need to sort yourself out', said he would support me in the quest.'
Tina realised she needed to lose weight when she went to purchase a new pair of trousers for a funeral and was shocked to realise she couldn't fit into a size 22 or 24
The gym bunny was pleasantly surprised when she worked out she was saving £20 per week by doing this plan - as she wasn't eating takeaways or drinking wine
Tina joined on 23rd March and by December she has reached her goal and lost an incredible nine stone
After researching LighterLife, Tina met a woman who had successfully done the Total Plan and lost 14 stone - it was the inspiration she needed.
So in March 2011, Tina attended a group in Carmarthen with a very charismatic leader by the name of Val.
'She was so warm and welcoming, and extremely passionate,' explained Tina.
'I was put on the Total Plan and did Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in a group every week, through simple activities.'
While Tina initially thought the classes were going to be hard and expensive, she was pleasantly surprised.
Overhauling her diet, she started having porridge with fruit for breakfast, stir fry made with tofu for dinner and nuts and seeds as a snack - finished off with lots of water.
'Over the first month I was saving nearly £20 per week doing this plan because I wasn't eating takeaways or drinking wine,' explained Tina.
'By December I reached my goal weight and had lost nine stone.
Tina has since discovered a love for spinning, so much so that she’s now become a qualified instructor
She has been attending the new LighterLife Xpress Slimming Clubs to help maintain her weight
It wasn't until September 2017 that Tina started her quest to become a fitness instructor - something which she said she never would have had the confidence to do
'I was happy to start the second part of my journey, the management phase.'
Eventually it was time for Tina to go into the big wide world on her own - and that's where her love affair with fitness began.
'I did my first spin class in 2012 and I was hooked,' explained the gym bunny.
'I loved it. Then my passion for fitness grew and I gave up smoking - which I had used as a crutch during the whole diet.'
In June, Tina took her husband to New York for his 40th birthday.
'Sadly, during our trip I wasn't well and suffered chronic back and side pains,' she explained.
'Once we got home, and after many trips back and forth to my GP, I eventually had a scan which detected an illness.
'This was the same growth which they spotted years previously, but it was in fact very serious.'
She added: 'If I hadn't lost weight the growth would've kept on enlarging and eventually perforated my bowel and kidney as it was so big.
After surgery I was told it weighed in at 9lb.'
At the end of 2013, Tina was ready to get back to training and she worked extremely hard throughout the following year to become fit again.
Years later, in September 2017, she started her quest to become a fitness instructor.
'I passed my exercise-to-music exams in October 2017 and have now gone on to become a spin teacher, passing that exam this year,' said Tina.
Now weighing 10st 9lb and a UK dress size 10/12, Tina has since discovered a love for spinning, so much so that she’s now become a qualified instructor.
'I can now proudly say I run an advanced-spin class at Haverfordwest Leisure centre and without LighterLife I would never have had the confidence to do this,' she said.
'I could not be happier with where my journey has taken me and if I can do it then anyone can - all it takes is the will to say you deserve better.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
