«Breaking News» Rams CB Nikell Robey-Coleman says Patriots star Tom Brady is 'not the same quarterback he was'

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman made news last week as the primary beneficiary of a controversial non-call in the NFC title game win over New Orleans; and now the 27-year-old is making headlines again for suggesting that 41-year-old New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is too old.

'Age has definitely taken a toll,' Robey-Coleman told Bleacher Report. 'For him to still be doing it, that's a great compliment for him. But I think that he's definitely not the same quarterback he was.'

Robey-Coleman is willing to give the five-time Super Bowl champion some credit.

'Movement. Speed. Velocity. Arm strength. He still can sling it, but he's not slinging it as much,' he continued. 'Whatever he was doing – because of his age and all that – he's not doing as much of that anymore. He's still doing the same things; he's just not doing as much of it. And sometimes, it's not the sharpest. But it still gets done.'

Brady looked sharp in the Patriots' overtime win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game. Not only did he engineer the game-winning drive, but he completed 30 of 46 passes for 348 yards and a touchdown, albeit with two interceptions

Just eight years old when Tom Brady was drafted in 2000, Nickell Robey-Coleman is familiar with the former University of Michigan star having played for the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots' divisional rival, for his first four NFL seasons

Brady's statistics did suffer slightly in his 19th NFL season. He finished with only 29 touchdown passes (his fewest since 2013) and he saw his average yards per game drop from a league-leading 286.1 in 2017 to 272.2 in 2018. His quarterback rating of 97.7, while still respectable, is a far cry from the remarkable 112.2 he posted in 2016.

On the other hand, Brady looked sharp in the Patriots' overtime win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game. Not only did he engineer the game-winning drive, but he completed 30 of 46 passes for 348 yards and a touchdown, albeit with two interceptions.

WHAT IS QB RATING?

'Quarterback rating' or 'passer rating' is used to measure a quarterback's efficiency and is calculated using passing attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns and interceptions.

The highest possible rating is 158.3. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees led the NFL with a 115.7 mark in 2018. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers is currently the NFL's all-time career leader with a 103.7 quarterback rating.

'We have to stay connected,' Robey- Coleman said when asked how the Rams can succeed on Sunday. 'And he will slowly start to reveal himself.

'I've got Buffalo blood running through my veins, so you know I hate these guys,' Robey-Coleman added. 'I naturally hate them. I never liked New England.'

The Patriots have used the perception that they're fading as motivation this year. During the AFC title game win over Kansas City, New England wide receiver Julian Edelman could be heard pumping Brady up by telling him he was 'too old.'

And after Brady earned his ninth trip to the Super Bowl, he jokingly told CBS that 'everybody thinks we suck and can't win any games.'

Brady recently told ESPN that there is 'zero chance' he will retire after the season.

'I've said that for a long time,' he said. I feel like I'm asked that a lot, and I feel like I repeat the same answer, but no one wants to believe me.

'I've set a goal for myself at 45,' he continued. 'Like I said before, it's very hard to make it that far. I know how hard it was this year, and the commitment it takes.

'Hopefully, I've learned from some of the things that happened this year to be better next year, but every year is tough.'

While he has enjoyed unparalleled success, including three league MVP awards and earning 14 Pro Bowl selections, Brady has also been sacked 473 times during the regular season alone, which is seventh in NFL History. And that doesn't include the 65 sacks he's endured in the postseason.

Although Brady himself refuses to quit, wife Gisele Bundchen has reportedly been hopeful that he would step away from the game. In 2017, she told ABC's Good Morning America that Brady has had unreported concussions and she worried about his long-term health. A joint NFL and players' union investigation found there was no evidence that Brady or the team failed to follow the league's policies or procedures on concussions

A sixth-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, Brady was a backup quarterback until an injury to Drew Bledsoe thrust him into the starter's role in 2001. That season ended with an improbable Super Bowl run and an upset of the heavily favored St. Louis Rams to win the franchise's first NFL title.

Brady and the Patriots have returned to the Super Bowl seven times since then, winning four Lombardi Trophies.

In 2018, Brady finished with 4,355 passing yards, 29 touchdown passes and just 11 interceptions.

A win on Sunday would tie New England with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl victories at six.

On Friday afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that, 'Robey-Coleman was fined $26,739 for the helmet-to-helmet that was not flagged during the NFC Championship Game.'

The call itself has been discussed heavily since Sunday's game.

The teams were tied 20-20 late in regulation when officials failed to call pass interference or helmet-to-helmet penalties on Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman for knocking Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis down as he awaited a pass.

Had a penalty been called, the Saints could have tried to run down the clock and kick a winning field goal with seconds left. Instead, the Saints settled for a field goal sooner, allowing the Rams to tie the game and send it to overtime.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
