Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson has been suspended indefinitely due to ongoing issues with alcohol abuse, the NHL and NHL Players' Association jointly announced Tuesday. Watson, who recently admitted to suffering from anxiety and depression, was charged with assaulting his girlfriend in June, but in October she denied he had ever hit her.
Watson was admitted into Stage 2 of the NHL's substance abuse and behavioral health program, according to the two entities. They said the suspension was 'related exclusively' to the alcohol issues.
This is Watson's second suspension of the season. He missed the first 18 games after pleading no contest to a domestic assault charge in July. Watson was initially suspended for 27 games by the NHL, but an arbitrator reduced it to 18.
Watson, 27, received probation for the June 16 incident in which officers found him and girlfriend Jenn Guardino in a parked car near a gas station in Franklin, Tennessee, just south of Nashville.

In an Instagram post two weeks ago, Watson acknowledged personal battles with alcoholism, depression and anxiety, saying he had been sober for nearly two years before drinking again in May of 2017.
'I have dealt with anxiety, depression and Alchoholism since the age of 18,' Watson wrote. 'I maintained sobriety for 23 months until the middle of May, 2018, when I began drinking. After the events on June 16th, I voluntarily entered the NHL SABH Program, and I am currently sober and committed to living a healthy lifestyle so that I can be the father, partner, teammate and person I want to be.'
Watson addressed his arrest in the Instagram post as well.
'As Jennifer said in her previous statement, she also deals with Alcoholism. During the month leading up to the incident, we had both relapsed, our relationship had become tense, and we made a series of poor decisions that lead us to that day. On June 16th we engaged in a heated nonphysical argument. I did not cause marks on her chest or blood on her leg. I did handle matters that day poorly and did not uphold the standards of an employee of the Nashville Predators or National Hockey League.
'I take full responsibility for my involvement in the argument and have learned from the situation and taken the necessary steps to ensure that nothing of this nature happens again.'
'Jennifer and I are in a good place. We are healthy, happy, and committed to our own individual sobriety as well as continuing to strengthen our relationship. We have learned from our mistakes and are excited to move forward in our relationship. We wish only to raise our daughter Olivia in the most healthy and loving atmosphere we can provide.
'We ask that you please respect or privacy regarding this matter so that we can take what we have learned and move forward in our life together,' he concluded.'
Watson and Guardino have both stated they are working to stay sober. Watson wrote on Instagram that 'we wish only to raise our daughter Olivia in the most healthy and loving atmosphere we can provide. We ask that you please respect or privacy regarding this matter so that we can take what we have learned and move forward in our life together'
Watson had previously teamed with Predators players like P.K. Subban and Mike Fisher on a public-awareness campaign titled 'Unsilence the Violence.' The effort was in conjunction with the Nashville Predators Foundation's $500,000 pledge to help fight domestic violence
Watson won't be paid during the suspension.
'The Nashville Predators are saddened and disappointed for Austin Watson and his family as he enters the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program for alcohol-related treatment,' the Predators said in a statement. 'We are grateful for the NHL and NHLPA's program and will cooperate in any way necessary as we continue to support Austin and his family as they go through this difficult time.
'Because of the personal nature of the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program and our exclusive focus on Austin and his family's well-being, there will be no further comment on this matter.'
Watson has seven goals and six assists (13 points) in 34 games for the Predators this season.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
