He claimed that he would take a year off if Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won Best TV presenters at the NTAs, held at London's 02 arena on Tuesday.
And Piers Morgan, 53, told Good Morning Britain viewers on Wednesday that he was 'livid' with the outcome the next day.
He said: 'It was Ant McPartlin’s speech that really cemented it for me. You mean, seriously, he hasn’t been on TV for a year. The only time he gets out of bed in the morning is to walk the dog!
Not happy: Piers Morgan questioned Ant and Dec's NTA win because he said the embattled star 'hasn't worked in a YEAR' - as GMB also lost out to This Morning on the Daytime gong
Will he? Piers had said he would take a year off to walk his dog, just like Ant if the boys won the gong
Calling the public 'gullible', he said: 'I’m still annoyed, I can’t lie. I’m still annoyed. You saw people win who barely worked last year!'
He later added: 'Why did Ant and Dec win? I get why Dec won but why did Ant AND Dec win? 'He hasn't done any work for a year.
'Whatever they do, they win in year in year out. He could do an Andi Peters and sleep in a hammock on a beach for a year.'
Ant had taken a year off following his recovery from painkiller addiction, after a difficult year which saw him convicted for drink-driving.
They did it! Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly claimed the award for Best TV Entertainment Presenter at the NTAs, despite Ant's well documented absence from TV for much of the year
But he and Dec picked up their 18th gong on the night, with Ant saying: 'This is a genuine shock, especially this year.
'I'm shaking. We want to say thank you to everybody, I really don't feel like I can accept it, the one reason we won this award was this guy, his wit, his funniness, his determination, I love you pal.'
Holding back tears Dec then added: 'Thank you so much to everybody who sent kind and thoughtful messages, they kept me going while I was flying the flag for the two of us.
'But this year more than ever thank you to all of you who picked up the phone and voted for us. Special shout out to Dermot for saying he'd throw in the towel if we won, so happy retirement Dermot!'
He said: 'Whatever they do, they win in year in year out. He could do an Andi Peters and sleep in a hammock on a beach for a year'
Ant then finished their speech by emotionally saying: 'It's good to be back, well done pal!'
The morning after, Piers also addressed Good Morning Britain losing the Daytime gong to This Morning, he said: 'All the best people lost.'
He added: 'The NTAs have become a bit of a joke. Holly and Phil have won for nine years. It must be as boring for the viewers.
‘It’s the same old people, they’ve all got the same management company. Ant and Dec, Holly and Phil, same management company.’
Fuming: Piers couldn't hide his upset at the NTAs as he said: 'all the best people lost' on the show the next day
Poking fun: Susanna appeared to be taking great delight in Piers' rants the next day
Go wild in Susanna's animal print dress from Oasis
Susanna Reid was looking very fresh faced on Good Morning Britain today despite a big night at the National Television Awards. How does she do it?
And while she was gorgeous and glittery on the red carpet in a sequinned gown by Goddiva, she was back to her more familiar feminine take on workwear in a chic shirt dress from high street favourite Oasis.
We're big fans of animal prints of all kinds and this leaopard midi is ideal for the office, or for a laid back weekend. A pair of high heels will dress it up and keep it smart or rock it with trainers or chunky boots for a more relaxed look.

Adding that Andi Peters is also part of the same team, Piers added: ‘I’m smelling a massive rat.’
Andi said: ‘They manage very talented people and those guys win. Weren’t you represented by them at one point?’
Piers jibed: ‘I’m not casting aspersions, I’m just casting aspersions.’
He then said: Those awards shows start really happy, most people nominated a huge group...people telling me: “Piers I voted for you”, “I love you”.
'You feel happy and full of hope... then comes the moment you lose. The award show atmosphere gets darker and more miserable by the minute, as losers increase, a happy hopeful big gang of us turn to utterly furious.
Soap gangs, EastEnders, the audience are seething a hot bed of misery and despair, with the odds of Holly and Phil who win every year: “Aha we are all happy!”.'
Reflecting on This Morning beating GMB, he said: 'The NTAs have become a bit of a joke. Holly and Phil have won for nine years. It must be as boring for the viewers'
The TV host shared an Instagram picture of himself looking angry, while holding his coffee cup, writing: 'The morning after. Still livid. #ntas.'
He also revealed that Danny Dyer had said to him before the announcement: ‘Look, if you lose go and clump Phillip Schofield - just clump him!'
There was also an implication that Piers might have had a sore head in the morning as his co-host Richard Arnold, 49, shared a picture of him with a giant fry-up.
Richard captioned the image with: 'Breakfast of champions when it’s a choker of a morning after post @officialntas @gmb #gmb #itv #ntas #morningafter #fullenglish.'
Later on in the show Piers said: 'I'm still annoyed, I can't lie.'
Cheeky: Piers also revealed that Danny Dyer had said to him before the announcement: ‘Look, if you lose go and clump Phillip Schofield - just clump him!'
Show producers played REM song Everybody Hurts over a clip of them losing.
Susanna Reid, 48, said: 'Hurts doesn't it. I'm sad inside in that clip.'
Piers added: 'Why are you pretending to be happy. Look at Andi Peters, he's delirious we lost, that's the lack of fighting in the modern world.'
Susanna said: 'Why did we lose? I wore that nice frock?'
'What more are we meant to do?' said Piers.
Piers said: 'You did have a stunning dress on, have we got a picture (argues with director about delay in showing pic).
'You look happy on the red carpet but underneath all that is the deprivation.'
Susanna chimed in: 'That's giving up carbs, giving up alcohol.'
Lovely: Richard Arnold hinted that Piers was a little hungover as he shared a picture of him tucking into a giant fry-up just before filming

He...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
