No, this isn’t a scene from a Star Wars game.
It’s actually flight-deck footage of a landing at Maniitsoq Airport in Greenland.
And the internet is quite rightly mesmerised.
Other-worldly footage of a plane landing at Maniitsoq Airport has caused a stir on YouTube
The clip was filmed on board an Air Greenland Dash 8 aircraft as it made an approach at dusk.
The cameraman was Malik Niemann, a helicopter pilot for Air Greenland, who was sitting in the jump seat.
He told MailOnline Travel that the aircraft was supposed to land in Nuuk, the capital, but that bad weather forced it to divert to Maniitsoq, where it refuelled.
The footage begins with the runway just visible on the very edge of the snowy mainland.

As the plane gets nearer it’s clear that there is no margin for error whatsoever.
Since the clip was posted to YouTube it has been viewed over 80,000 times.
One viewer likened the landscape to a Stars Wars game.
‘Is that Star Wars: Battlefront?’ asked user ‘SwordOfTheSamurai’.
The landscape certainly does have Hoth-like qualities.
Meanwhile ‘cclayhammer’ was simply bowled over, writing in the comments section: ‘One of the best landing videos I’ve seen… well done!’
U.S pilot and author of the best-selling Cockpit Confidential, Patrick Smith, told MailOnline Travel: 'According to Wikipedia, the runway at that airport is under 3,000 feet long. That’s exceptionally short for any type of commercial airport. Therefore, only certain aircraft, at certain weights, would be permitted to take off or land there.
'This is such a special case - you can’t really compare operations at a location like this to operations at a “normal” commercial airport.'
Snowscape: As airports go, Maniitsoq is really quite remote

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
