What is the Keto diet and how does it work?

The Keto diet is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat plan, and is quite similar to the Atkins diet.

Those on it are required to cut the amount of calories they consume by a significant amount, while eating plenty of fatty foods like fish, meat and eggs.

Some people on the diet also drink 'bulletproof coffee' - black coffee with ghee (clarified butter), which helps to stop them from getting hungry during the day.

The diet works by effectively starving the body of carbohydrates - the main source of stored energy.

When this happens, the body burns fat for energy instead.

It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain.

Ketogenic diets can cause massive reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels - helping to reverse Type 2 diabetes.

The mother-of-two explained that Cohen had been 'condescending and unprofessional' toward her when she appeared on his show Watch What Happens Live.

The 50-year-old was apparently rude to the fitness mogul when she was slow to catch onto a concept for a game on his popular Bravo show.

And the pair's dislike for each other has recently taken the form of a disagreement over the Keto diet.

It began when Jillian voiced her concerns over the fad diet to Women's Health Magazine.

'I don't understand,' the Biggest Loser host said. 'Like, why would anybody think this [diet] is a good idea?'

Both Cohen and anchorman Al Roker took exception to her comments.

Cohen took Michaels to task during last Wednesday's taping of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, giving her the title 'Jackhole of the Day.'

'Don't feel bad, keto diet,' he added. 'A lot of people think Jillian Michaels is a bad idea.'

The sentiment was shared by Al Roker, who posted on Twitter: 'So @JillianMichaels says #Keto is a bad idea. This from a woman who promoted on camera bullying , deprivation, manipulation and more weekly in the name of weight loss. Now those sound like bad ideas.'

Michaels took to her own social media, on Friday, and responded: 'I have an idea... @Andy @alroker how about a civil intelligent debate on The 6 Keys book and keto instead of personal attacks and name calling? I'm also a motivator and I know you guys can do this.'

She would later post a video that was directed towards Roker. In it, she mentions how the two have known each other for years and talks about their mutual 'respect' for each other.

'If you want to debate the science of keto, then by all means let's do that,' said the health expert. 'But the personal attacks are bizarre, and unnecessary. It's uncalled for, right.'

Michaels would continue by citing her book, The 6 Keys, when describing how 'nutrition is more than about weight loss.'

'I am here to discuss it with you,' she added.

‘I did his show once and it was a really awful ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
