A witness for the prosecution at the of the Mexican drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman has implicated the kingpin's beauty queen wife in his dramatic 2015 prison escape.
Damaso Lopez Nunez told the jury on Wednesday Emma Coronel Aispuro was in on the plan that resulted in Guzman escaping through a mile-long tunnel dug to the shower in his cell.
Nunez, who was Guzman's aide, testified that the mother of Guzman's twin daughters helped him trade messages with his sons before the infamous breakout.

According to Nunez, Aispuro also helped arrange the purchase of a parcel of land and a warehouse near the Mexican jail housing her husband, and brought a GPS watch to be smuggled to him in jail to provide coordinates for the tunnel, reported Newsday.
Following Guzman's recapture, Aispuro brought Nunez on board to buy another piece of property near Mexico's notorious Altiplano prison, where the drug lord was lodged, to start a dig.
In the midst of their preparations for a new prison break, Guzman was transferred to a more secure correctional facility.

According to Nunez, Guzman's associates paid a $2million to a high-ranking prison official to have Guzman returned to Altiplano, but that never happened.
Aispuro was in the second row in the courtroom, but had no immediate reaction.
Guzman, 61, was recaptured in 2016 and extradited to the US in 2017 to face charges of trafficking drug trafficking cocaine, heroin and other drugs into the country as leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the world's largest.
His lawyers have argued that he has been framed by the cartel's real leader, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada.
Nunez, 52, was arrested in Mexico City on US drug charges in 2017 and extradited to the United States in July, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. He said Tuesday he is hoping to have his sentence reduced by cooperating with prosecutors.
At the time of Nunez's arrest in May 2017, Mexican officials said he was believed to have been seeking an alliance with Guzman's rival, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
Aispuro, who is the mother of El Chapo's twin girls, has been a nearly constant presence at his trial in Brooklyn
Nunez spent much of his time on the stand this week corroborating testimony from the dozen or so other cartel members who have appeared at the trial, now in its third month.
Lopez said he began working for Guzman around 2001, helping to arrange drug shipments and bribe government officials, and eventually becoming godfather to one of Guzman's twin daughters.
The prosecution expects to wrap up its case either Thursday afternoon or Monday morning.
After that, Guzman's lawyers will have a chance to call their own witnesses. It is not yet known whether Guzman will testify himself.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
