«Breaking News» Haunting of Hill House star Victoria Pedretti cast as lead with Penn Badgley in season two of You

Netflix dipped into a familiar well for season two of it's stalker drama You.

The Haunting of Hill House star Victoria Pedretti has been cast as the female lead in the hit show's second season, the streaming giant announced on Tuesday.

Pedretti, 23, will be joining star Penn Badgley, 32, in You as the series moves to California.

The actress made a splash last fall in the chilling Netflix series the The Haunting of Hill House as Nell Crain, which was her first acting job.

She's now been cast in the sophomore season of You as Love Quinn, 'an aspiring chef working as a produce manager in a high-end grocery store.'

In a press release Netflix wrote: 'Love is uninterested in the world of social media, branding and self-promotion, focused instead on leading an interesting life. She is also tending to a deep grief — and when she meets Joe Goldberg, she senses a shared knowledge of profound, life-changing loss.'

Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley stars in the show as Joe, an obsessive book store manager who does everything in his power to be with the object of his affection. 

Season two: Pedretti was cast as Love Quinn who will join Badgley's Joe as the series moves from New York City to Los Angeles, California

'It is very f**king cool that Victoria is playing this role,' You showrunner Sera Gamble told EW. 'I binged Hill House, and she was incredible.'

She continued: 'And then a couple of days later, [executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] sent an email asking, "Have you seen Hill House? Have you seen Victoria Pedretti, wouldn't she make a perfect Love?" Leave it to Greg to put that together.' 

You is based on a series of books by author Caroline Kepnes and Love Quinn has been adapted from the second installment of the series.

Newcomer: Hill House was the 23-year-old's very first professional acting job

'Like her name, she's very warm and there is a carefree aspect to her spirit that really comes from the fact that she has constructed a life for herself that's about being in the moment and doing what she loves every day,' Gamble told EW.

Adding that she is different than season one's love obsession Beck.

'Beck had been quite aware of her social media presence, and Love is extremely disinterested in all of that,' the showrunner said. 

The thriller was originally aired on Lifetime for season one but then picked up and streamed on Netflix. There, it gained massive popularity.

'Love is uninterested in the world of social media, branding and self-promotion, focused instead on leading an interesting life.'

Season two marks a move in networks and a move in plot as Joe has picked up and traveled from New York to Los Angeles. 

 'Joe is not moving to LA because he f**king loves the West Coast,' Gamble said of season two. 'He's a New Yorker and he has bought the party line on how terrible LA is and when he gets here, very little dissuades him from his initial opinion.'

Adding: 'But I personally have been in LA since I was a teenager and it's this beautiful patchwork city that I truly adore. This show is an opportunity to illuminate an LA that maybe a lot of people haven't seen that goes beyond the Hollywood sign and Love is part of that. She's a Los Angeles native. She has really absorbed the best of the city and she's really artistic with the way that she lives her life.'

She also added that the second season will differ from season one in how the story is told.  

'Season 1 was a particular kind of story that we could tell about the relationship between Joe and Beck and the moment that we did what we did in the finale, that's not repeatable,' Gamble said in her interview with EW. 

'I will say that Love is a person he could only have met after what happened between him and Beck. And by the way, Joe is not out there looking for love. He's truly heartbroken by what has happened, and so what Love offers is a different kind of friendship and a different kind of relationship.'   

A season two premiere date is yet to be announced. 

'Season 1 was a particular kind of story that we could tell about the relationship between Joe and Beck and the moment that we did what we did in the finale, that's not repeatable,' You's showrunner said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
