A Utah man got quite the pleasant surprise Sunday when he found an owl stuck behind the grill of his car.
He was able to breathe a sigh of relief after realizing he hadn't killed the bird while driving in Lehi the night before.
Instead the nocturnal creature slipped in between a space on the front of his vehicle and he was astonished to find it was doing just fine the following day when he returned to the red Ford.
A great horned owl got stuck behind the grill of a red Ford SUV Sunday in Utah
'I was driving home from my girlfriend's house when a large bird flew up from in front of me causing me to incidentally hit it with my vehicle,' the driver told ViralHog.
'I had assumed that it died on impact as the feathers disappeared shortly after impact, however, to my surprise, when I arrived home, I found big yellow owl eyes peering at me through the grill of my SUV.
'Somehow the force of the impact and the wind caused the bird to fall through into the space behind the grill.'
In the video taken after he found the bird, it can be seen snugly resting in the body of the motor on the snowy day.
It seemed the driver had ruffled a few feathers as the creature can be seen looking rather unimpressed while the shocked man filmed it.
However the owl didn't get in a flap about being rescued and before long a professional came to the rescue.
'It appeared uninjured, however, I wasn't sure what to do about it till calling Animal Control,' the amateur videographer explained.
'The owl turned out to be a great horned owl. After the owl was removed, the Animal Control officer took the bird to a nearby rehabilitation center.'
The driver hit the bird on his way home but assumed it was dead on impact. When he arrived at his destination and check the motor the owl was doing well
Great horned owls tend to weight about 3.2lbs and are generally 18 to 25 inches in length.
So it's a wonder how it slipped between the small space.
'I've got an owl stuck in my car, I honestly have no idea how it got in there,' he narrates in the clip.
They're pretty fierce too; the owls that can be widely found across the United States make Peregrine Falcons their prey, as well as other owls.
It's a good thing the driver called in an expert because the bird would have been going nowhere if it was persistent about hanging on in there undisturbed. Their talons require the forced of 28lbs to pry open.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
