«Breaking News» Davina McCall hit back at claims she is addicted to exercise

Davina McCall has dismissed claims that she is addicted to physical exercise after documenting her regimented, healthy lifestyle across social media.

The presenter's lean physique, frequently displayed on Instagram, had previously sparked concern among fans, with many claiming she looks emaciated, ill and underfed as a result of her dedication to personal fitness.

But mother-of-three Davina, 51, insists the relentless criticism she suffers is way off the mark, telling the March issue of Health and Wellbeing that she is too busy with her responsibility as a working mum to devote her life to the gym.

'It doesn’t really make me feel anything,' she said. 'If I could be addicted to exercise, I would love to be, given half a chance!

'It’s funny how people talk about this kind of terrible thing of addiction to exercise. I mean, I haven’t exercised for two weeks because I’ve been working so hard.'

While Davina's social media accounts focus on diet and lifestyle, she admits she rarely has the opportunity to work out on a daily basis, with her workouts restricted to just three a week.

'I would give anything to go to the gym – I’d love to be able to do that but I work, I’m a mum and I cannot be addicted to exercise, so it’s just a bit of a silly nothing,' she said.

'Because of my busy schedule, the most I can do is three to four times a week, but the minute I retire or the kids leave home or whatever, I’d love to work out daily. I don’t see what’s wrong with it.

'I’d love to do an hour every day, whether it be a walk, or a cycle, or a swim – just to keep moving.'

The presenter, who battled drug addiction in her 20s, admits her commitment to health and fitness started late in life and only really clicked following the birth of daughter Tilly in 2003.

'I kept fit until I was about 24 or 25 by clubbing,' she explained. 'I’d go out maybe four nights a week and I’d dance for six hours and had a whale of a time.

'Then, when I stopped, I was questioning what had happened to my body and so I started going to to the gym but I wasn’t working out properly.

'It was only when I got pregnant with my second child that I thought to myself that this baby’s ravaged my body and I think I really need to do something about it – I want to stay toned, I don’t want cellulite everywhere.'

Davina is quick to add that the inevitable body confidence she has gained through taking care of herself has made her less fearful of getting older.

'When I was in my 20s or 30s, I was probably the most worried about turning 50,' she said.

'In reality, it was a lot less traumatic than turning 40. I think possibly because my kids are a bit older, life is going well, I feel quite settled, I feel great about my body and I’m in great health.'

Her general well-being might also relate to being happily single following her separation from her second husband, Pet Rescue presenter Matthew Robertson, in 2017.

'I had a lot more stress in my life when I turned 40,' she said. I had little children – a one-year-old, a four-year-old and a six-year-old – and life was absolutely chaotic and exhausting.

'So, I think that turning 50 has actually been a very pleasant experience and I feel like I’m at my peak. It’s really weird but rather lovely.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
