TV illusionist Criss Angel has revealed his young son has overcome childhood cancer after a tortuous three years of intense chemotherapy.

The 51-year-old magician walked the red carpet on Saturday wearing matching gold suits with four-year-old son Johnny Crisstopher during the opening night of his new Las Vegas residency MINDFREAK at Planet Hollywood.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMailTV, Angel disclosed Johnny is cancer-free after an arduous battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

'God willing, after three years of treatment, Johnny's last chemo treatment was about a month ago,' Angel said.

The master magician announced he is planning to release a film about beating the potentially terminal condition to raise awareness about child cancer.

'We are working very hard right now to release a documentary called, 1095, and 100 per cent of proceeds are going to go children's pediatric research and treatment,' he said.

'And this is our trials and tribulations of dealing with pediatric cancer in our own family so that other people, other parents, that hear that horrible news that your son or daughter has cancer, they know that they are not alone. They know that their anger, their frustration, that their feelings are not in vain.

'We went through it and we want to share it with the world so that other people don't have to be alone and they can have the support that they need and we can raise awareness for pediatric cancer, and dollars so that one day it can make it poof, disappear.'

1095 represents the number of days that Angel's son had to undergo chemotherapy radiation treatments.

Angel, who was also accompanied by pregnant girlfriend Shaunyl Benson, praised his partner for being Johnny's 'hero' for taking the tot for daily treatments, which included spinal taps and blood transfusions.

He said: 'One child every two minutes is diagnosed with cancer and cancer is the leading cause of death among children by disease.

'A boy goes through chemo treatments three years, a girl goes through it two years. Now I am not the hero here, this woman right over here, Shaunyl, has dealt with giving Johnny chemo treatment every single day for three years, and for her, the struggle is even more intense because she sees moment by moment, how difficult it is for someone you love, a precious little innocent child, to go through this.

After a standing ovation for his breathtaking show, Angel became emotional as he called his son up on to the stage.

Johnny told his dad: 'I love you' as they hugged in front of the crowd.

Angel has been a tireless advocate for treatments into curing child cancers and doing magic visits to hospital bound patients.

During his show, a short tribute video to children, who have both succumbed and survived cancer, played out to a harp cover of Twisted Sisters' hit We're Not Gonna Take It.

Caesars Entertainment - who own the Planet Hollywood Resort - handed Angel a $10,000 donation to his charity foundation at the end of the sold out show.

'Cancer does not discriminate. This can affect your family. We need to save children. It happened to me and I have been working with kids since 2001. I had a child with cancer and three years battling it,' Angel said in a moving speech.

'You never know it if it is going to go away 100 per cent. You pray to God that it will, because you cannot understand what it feels like to see your son have spinal taps and blood transfusions and all that stuff. This $10,000 we do not take a penny out of it for expenses anytime - I fund it out of my pocket. Every single cent of this donation will go to research and treatment, so one day we can make pediatric cancer disappear.'

Angel has enjoyed over a decade at the top of the Vegas entertainment scene.

He has moved his new state-of-the-art, live immersive production to Planet Hollywood, whose creative team designed a bespoke theater for his tricks.

Angel admitted that his long term success in Sin City is about his interaction more than his magic.

'Two things; connection and the magic of emotion. It's not about the tricks I do, it's about how people feel when they watch it. Not how do I do it. If you have the magic of emotion, then you truly have something that connects people together globally.'

Angel was joined by a raft of stars at the MINDFREAK official opening including Gary Oldman, The Property Brothers, Wayne Newton and Randy Couture.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
