«Breaking News» Clothes that can colour your mood: Your wardrobe choices really can change the way you feel

The lack of colour in winter can affect our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.

Colour produces a biochemical reaction in our bodies, stimulating areas such as the pituitary gland of the endocrine system. This regulates our sleep, sex drive, metabolic rate and appetite, as well as our mood.

So, in the bleak midwinter, here’s how simply choosing the colour of your clothes wisely can help lift your spirits, pep up your sex life, improve your productivity at work and recharge your batteries.

Red undies to conquer fears

Wearing red in the workplace will encourage others to have confidence in your leadership.

If you feel the colour is too much, but you want to become more assertive, try wearing red underwear instead — it will help you stand up for yourself.

Relax and recharge in healing green

Green is in the middle of the colour spectrum and holds the balance between red (hot) and blue (cold) tones.

It is the colour of nature, of the fields and woods where we go to refresh ourselves and to recharge our batteries.

Wearing green will therefore relax you after a stressful day, making it the ideal colour for comfy loungewear.

Mellow yellow perks you up

After white, yellow is closest to the light of the sun — not only in brightness and hue, but also in its restorative power. Even visualising the colour can help you to focus mentally and concentrate on the task in hand.

Wearing yellow will also get you talking to others and stimulate the flow of ideas. Yellow paired with black is yet more effective, as it signals mental superiority.

But avoid the colour if you feel unable to wind down or have trouble sleeping.

Pick peach to form new friendships

Peach and apricot — both tints of orange — are warm colours that induce a sense of well-being, so are good to wear if you have to communicate with people or are in need of their co-operation.

It will make them feel comfortable around you.

Make change in magenta . . . or be inspired by violet

Wearing magenta, a deep purplish red, will help you make changes.

A bright magenta is often called ‘shocking’ or ‘hot’ pink, but magenta’s energy is in fact soothing and helps to stabilise people who are volatile.

Lacking in inspiration? Treat yourself to a violet jumper. The colour will nourish the spirit.

Blue jeans have calming powers (yes, really!)

Blue is a calming, ‘get away from it all’ colour. Light to midshades are the ones to wear if you have trouble sleeping.

Indigo — the colour of dark denim — has particularly powerful psychic properties.

It’s the deep, dark blue of the sky at night, a colour that helps to take us away from the world of the mundane to more spiritual dimensions, where intuition is more important than reason and faith more crucial than proof.

Black shows you are in control

Black is not strictly a colour — it’s technically the absence of colour, as black objects absorb all wavelengths of light. But it has always had a place in our wardrobes.

Black clothing makes a bold statement to others. Worn at work, it can help bestow authority and power, but it also signal aloofness; at night, it says we are alluring and mysterious, but it can put up barriers between ourselves and other people.

To counter its negative effects, black should be worn paired with a splash of colour.

For example, black teamed with red can denote physical or sexual power, while black with orange will show that you are young at heart and have a sense of humour.

How a pop of orange can lift your mood

True orange acts as a mental ‘pick-me-up’. It’s associated with positive thinking and motivation.

But it’s a very bright shade and so is not suitable for everyone’s skin tone.

Thankfully, an orange neck tie, scarf, handbag or even a piece of amber or coral jewellery is enough to make a difference.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
