Students at a school in east China have been threatened with 'forced exercise' if they overindulge and put on too much weight over the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays.
The 13 and 14-year-old pupils at the Hangzhou No 3 Middle School in Zhejiang province were weighed on Monday before next week's Spring Festival, China's most revered holiday.
The students would be forced to go for a run every day for the entirety of the next term if they put on more than 2kg (4lb) over the week-long festive period, according to Qianjiang Evening News.

Class teacher Shen Wei told reporters that the idea came to him when he saw a weighing scale while walking around a shopping mall.
'I wanted the students to weigh themselves before the holidays and give them an awareness of the risks of putting on more weight later on,' Shen said.
However, many students said that maintaining their weights could be a real challenge as it is extremely difficult to avoid overeating during Chinese New Year.
The scheme invited mixed reactions on Chinese social media.
Many agreed that it is a good incentive for young people to stay active and watch their diet, but others thought the punishment was not necessary.

Changing diets and a sedentary lifestyle will see about 28 per cent of seven to 18-year-olds, almost 50 million children, classified as obese by 2030 in China, according to a 2017 study
'If you want to eat more during the holidays, you have to exercise more - it's simple as that,' one user commented on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.
'I need this teacher in my life! I always gain weight during Chinese New Year,' another user said.
'But isn't it normal for children at that age to gain weight as they're growing?' one user questioned.
The new rule comes amid an obesity epidemic in China.

The new report said that 49 billion yuan (£5.5 billion) is expected to be spent on chronic diseases for obese and overweight adults by 2030, compared to 21.11 billion yuan (£2.4 billion) in 2002.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
