A bride-to-be may have been dancing next to a swimming pool' when she slipped, banged her head and drowned in Bali after her boyfriend flew her to the paradise island to propose.

Natalie Morris, 29, was on a 10-day break with boyfriend Andrew Samuel, 30, when she was found face down in the pool at a luxury resort.

Andrew was planning to ask company executive Natalie to marry him on the holiday, and said they had the 'most perfect evening' before her tragic death.

An inquest heard she may have been dancing alone at the poolside when she slipped and hit her head causing her to fall unconscious into the pool.

The devoted couple had been out for the evening and returned to their private villa on the island of Lembongan where they had gin and tonics at the poolside.

Andrew went to bed leaving Natalie alone to have a cigarette on the decking of the private villa.

The inquest heard he woke at 5.30am the next morning to find Natalie face down in the pool wearing just a T-shirt.

He told the hearing: 'We were due to go to an island but there was a typhoon so we got a ferry across to Lembongan.

'We checked into the villa, it had a private pool. we were excited and jumped into the pool, having a chill out and relaxing.

'In the evening we went to watch the sunset and drove back to the villa on a moped and went out to eat.

'We returned to the villa and we were watching a DVD by the pool, having a few drinks. The fridge was stocked.'

Andrew said Natalie had a few Shandy-type drinks earlier in the day and a beer when they had their evening meal.

He said: 'We had some gin in the villa with some tonic. I don't know how many, it wasn't loads, it was a relaxed night in, not an excessive amount.

'I wouldn't say she as drunk, we both had a few drinks, we were both sort of tipsy.

'It was really nice, we were in a picturesque villa looking over a white sandy beach - we were making plans for Natalie's 30th birthday.

The couple drank Bombay Sapphire gin which was a gift from another holidaymaker staying at the Secret Outlook resort.

Andrew said it was normal for him to go to bed first and he left Natalie sitting down on the decking by the pool having a cigarette.

He said Natalie was 'not a great swimmer' but the 5ft-deep pool would not have caused her any issues.

A partly-smoked cigarette was found by the pool.

Cardiff Coroner Andrew Barkley asked Mr Samuel for his view about what happened.

He said: 'I think she was having a cigarette and got up from the chair, possibly having a dance.

'I assume she must have been at the side of the pool when she slipped and hit her head.

'If she was conscious she would have been able to stand up in the pool.'

The inquest, in Pontypridd, heard Andrew jumped into the water to drag Natalie's lifeless body to the poolside where he gave CPR.

Emergency services were called but Natalie was pronounced dead on September 3 last year.

The inquest heard the couple had been sitting on decking that was about six foot from the pool.

There was outdoor lighting and the private pool and garden were securely locked with a ten foot wall surrounding it.

A post mortem examination carried out by the Indonesian authorities discovered she had an minor blunt injury to the left side of her head.

It also revealed Natalie was 'marginally' over the drink-drive limit.

Natalie's body was flown home but a full autopsy could not be carried out because she had been embalmed.

Pathologist Dr Stephen Leadbetter said: 'Death was due to immersion but I am not able to determine the precise reason for Miss Morris entering the pool or her inability to remove herself from the water.'

Natalie and Andrew spent many months planning the dream trip to Bali and were hoping to visit Australia together this year.

Her older sister Janine Lloyd told the hearing in a written statement: 'Natalie had a sparking personality, she was a lovely, special girl.

'She met Andrew in 2014 and he was the love of her life. They brought out the best in each other.

'She was at her peak before her death. She was a light that shone so brightly, it seemed impossible it would go out. She will never be forgotten.'

Coroner Mr Barkley recorded a narrative verdict that Natalie drowned in circumstances that were unclear on September 3 last year.

He said: 'The evidence does not reveal how she entered the water.

'Natalie was well-loved and in the prime of her life and was enjoying an exciting holiday Bali.

'She and her boyfriend were staying at a private villa, some drink had been consumed, both were a bit tipsy.

'Mr Samuel went to bed leaving Natalie watching TV. He woke to make the awful discovery of her face down in the pool.

'The evidence does not tell us how she got into the pool, the post mortem did show she had a slight head injury, but nothing like a fractured skull.

'That injury may be consistent with the hypothesis Mr Samuel has given to the court today.

'There was alcohol on board, there is no criticism of that, she would have been marginally above the limit for driving..

'There is nothing else that could explain what happened and no involvement of a third party.'

Natalie ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
