«Breaking News» Boy, 10, hangs himself as parents say they'll sue school for allowing students to bully their son

A ten-year-old boy committed suicide on Saturday after his fifth grade classmates teased him for needing a colostomy bag, authorities in Kentucky say.

Seven Bridges, 10, hanged himself in the closet of his home.

His body was discovered by his mother, Tami Charles, who had just returned home from the grocery store at around 10:30am.

‘I saw my son dead,’ she told WHAS-TV. ‘That’s something in my head.’

Donnie Bridges, the boy’s father, was at church choir practice when Seven killed himself.

‘For the few minutes that we left, he didn't want us to see that,’ Donnie Bridges said.

The parents said they ‘absolutely’ plan to take legal action against Jefferson County Public Schools, WDRB-TV reported.

They said Seven was a victim of repeated bullying by students at Kerrick Elementary School.

‘JCPS: You all failed my baby,’ an emotional Charles said.

Renee Murphy, a spokesperson for the school district, said it plans to ‘launch a full investigation’ into how administrators handled complaints by the family.

‘We are devastated by this,’ Murphy said.

‘Our hearts are breaking for this family. The school community is hurting right now.’

Murphy said a crisis team will be at the school to counsel students and faculty on Tuesday - the first day back from the three-day Martin Luther King Jr holiday weekend.

‘We just wanted to raise a happy kid, live our lives and be OK,’ Charles told WLKY-TV.

Seven was born with a colon condition that required him to undergo 26 different surgeries until the day he died.

At birth, he was fitted with a colostomy bag. A colostomy is a surgical procedure where doctors create an opening in the large intestine and connect it to the abdominal wall.

This is the opening through which bowel movements leave the body.

Seven’s parents said the boy was mocked in school because of his condition, which at times caused an unpleasant odor.

The mocking got so bad that his parents were set to transfer Seven to a new school beginning next year.

‘We would talk to him about having new friends and a new start,’ Charles said.

‘He just had to get to the end of the year.’

In August, Charles said Seven was choked and called a racial slur while riding the bus to school.

Seven almost lost consciousness as a result of the incident. After complaining of dizziness, he was taken to the hospital, where doctors performed a CT scan.

Charles said she raised the issue with school officials, who opened an investigation into the incident.

‘We found that the school system had a lot of holes and a lot of inconsistencies with their policies about bullying,’ Bridges told WLKY-TV.

‘They stood on the verbal message, the lip service of zero tolerance, but they did not deliver.’

The results of that investigation are not known, and the school district won’t comment.

‘We can’t get into student discipline at this time, and again, we’re going to be reviewing everything to see how we handled things on our end,’ Murphy said.

‘When complaints were made, I can tell you they were addressed.

‘But again, we will have a full investigation, a full review to see exactly what happened and if all the policies and procedures were followed.’

Charles and Bridges said Seven never fought back physically or verbally against the kids who were taunting him.

‘Seven knew the lord,’ Bridges said.

‘He knew right from wrong. We instilled that in him at a young age. He went to church.’

Charles said her son would pray for his tormentors.

‘Forgive yourself,’ she said when asked what message she had for the children who teased him.

‘Seven did. He forgave you already. He found his peace; it's time for you to find yours.’

Friends and family will hold a special gathering remembering Seven at Shively Park in Louisville on Saturday at 3pm, where balloons will be released in his memory.

The wake will take place February 1 at Bates Memorial Chapel from 6-9pm.

The funeral is scheduled for the same chapel on February 2 at 2pm.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral and burial expenses.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
