«Breaking News» Barbara Windsor's husband reveals she is beginning to forget who he is

Barbara Windsor's husband has revealed that the former EastEnders star is starting to forget who he is as her Alzheimer's battle worsens.

Scott Mitchell told Good Morning Britain that he 'feared the moment when every memory goes', adding that Barbara had already forgotten his face on two occasions.

Scott, who has been married to Dame Barbara for 25 years, said the star, 81, was still able to put on a brave face and 'get herself together' when appearing in public.

He said: 'When we got to theatre, something happens when she's out, it's like her old self, she sees the public and sees everyone and that part of her comes to life.

'I'd be doing an injustice if I said that's the reality. The reality is the last two weeks her confusion has been really bad, so of an evening I spend a lot of time explaining where we are.'

The 53-year-old said he had now been forced to put out several photographs of them together around the house to help keep her memories alive.

He added: 'I fear the moment when every memory will go, when on a constant basis Barbara won’t know who I am. Inevitably she won’t know who I am. I've had it twice.

'I was helping her out the bath and she looked at me scared and said "I'm sorry who are you?"

'That’s the reality of what people living with dementia are going through and those around them as well.'

Talking about her memory loss, he added: 'It's now quite instant, the forgetfulness is quite instant.

'She had trouble identifying our house. She will ask "are we staying her tonight, have we got clothes here?"

'I have a board where there are pictures of us from the beginning. She will ask "how long have we been together?" and I'll say "25 years, look at that picture there, that's 1993" and then she will take it in for the moment and say "oh, that's great".'

Barbara's husband Scott will lead the team, which also includes EastEnders actors Emma Barton, Kellie Shirley, Tanya Franks, Jamie Borthwick and Jane Slaughter.

They have united in support of the former EastEnders star, and hope to raise £100,000 to help ground-breaking research into dementia, as well as boosting awareness around the condition.

Jake, 46, who plays Max Branning in the BBC One soap, said that his friendship with 'wonderful, special friend' Dame Barbara inspired him to join the team.

He added: 'Dementia is caused by diseases that affect so many people, like Barbara, yet awareness of dementia is so low and research is so underfunded.

'We've come together as a team to change this, and make a stand against dementia.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
