Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced the new appointments to House committees on Tuesday saying: 'We are thrilled that these outstanding Members will join these critical committees, where their fresh vision and powerful voices will be critical as Democrats deliver our ambitious agenda For The People'.

Ocasio-Cortez also confirmed her new position by retweeting posts about her membership Tuesday evening.

'Confirmed: @AOC wins a spot on the high-profile House Oversight committee, giving her a potentially huge platform to interrogate Trump administration officials in next two years,' White House New York Times correspondent Shane Goldman wrote in a post she retweeted.

There are 15 people on the Oversight Committee for the 116th Congress including Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Pressley, Khanna, Mark DeSaulnier of California, Jimmy Gomez of California, Katie Hill of California,  Robin Kelly of Illinois, Brenda Lawrence of Michigan, Stacey Plaskett of U.S. Virgin Islands, Harley Rouda of California, John Sarbanes of Maryland, Jackie Speier of California, Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida and Peter Welch of Vermont.

The House Oversight committee is currently led by Democrat Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland and Ranking Member Republican Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Cummings said he's excited about the new class joining the committee.

'If I based the choices going on the committee based on what people said or their reputations or whatever, I probably wouldn’t have a committee,' he said to Politico.

'I am excited — there were a lot of people that wanted to come on our committee,' he said to Politico.

She will join the committee along with Rep Rashida Tlaib of Michigan who has vowed to 'impeach the motherf***er' in reference to Trump. Once on the committee, she'll have the power to launch an investigation into his administration

The Oversight Committee, established in 1816, is the main investigative committee in the House and will have the power to investigate Donald Trump and his administration, something Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow freshman peers have sworn to do.

Members of the House Oversight Committee

• Congressman Mark DeSaulnier of California

• Congressman Jimmy Gomez of California

• Congresswoman Katie Hill of California

• Congresswoman Robin Kelly of Illinois

• Congressman Ro Khanna of California • Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence of Michigan

• Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York

• Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett of U.S. Virgin Islands

• Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts

• Congressman John Sarbanes of Maryland

• Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California

• Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan

• Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida

• Congressman Peter Welch of Vermont

The four freshmen joining the committee are fierce critics of the president and have pledged to launch investigations into Trump and his administration.

Tlaib even promised to 'impeach the motherf***er' in an impassioned speech before Congress.

Chairman Cummings said to 60 Minutes earlier this month he plans to exercise his subpoena power by demanding documents and testimony from the Trump administration on a wide range of issues, according to CBS.

'The American people and the Congress [are] insisting that [President Trump] allows us to do our job. Basically what the president has done and the Republicans have done, they've joined hands. And the Republicans have been, basically, not only blocking, but [have] become the defense counsel for the president,' he said.

The Oversight Committee's first major hearing is scheduled on February 7, when  Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen is scheduled to testify before the public.

Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, is also set to join the House Financial Services Committee, which oversees banks and the financial sector under Representative Maxine Waters.

'Financial Services is one of just four exclusive committees in the House. It oversees big banks, lending, & the financial sector. I am very grateful for the opportunity to sit on this committee as a freshman, and look forward to working under the leadership of @RepMaxine Waters,' she tweeted on January 15.

She said once on the committee she'd like to address today's student loan crisis. She's also been a outspoken critic of big banks, demanding they be broken up.

'Personally, I’m looking forward to digging into the student loan crisis, examining for-profit prisons/ICE detention, and exploring the development of public & postal banking. To start,' she tweeted with a smiley face.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
