«Breaking News» Town's five-time mayor marries Filipino bride five decades his junior

A 73-year-old civil leader has raised eyebrows in his home town after marrying a Filipino bride four decades his junior.

Widower Kit Owen - the deputy-mayor of March in Cambridgeshire - admits met his wife, Aiza, 'on the internet, of course'.

The couple were married today after two years of courting, Mr Owen wouldn't reveal his wife's age but did say she is in her thirties.

He said: 'After getting on so well over FaceTime and Whatsapp, it seemed it was time for me to go and meet her in person.'

After a year without seeing each other in the flesh, Kit travelled to the Philippines where he met Aiza in real life and spent time with her family and friends.

Kit 'can't remember' how he proposed but says that the couple are very happy.

The pair were married in Kit's home town where he has been mayor five times, at a register office before going on to a reception at Ye Olde Griffin Hotel.

Photographers were trying to get snapshots of the couple's happy day but Kit said they dealt with that by pulling the curtains on them.

After the ceremony he and his wife went outside to let photographers get some pictures.

He said: 'Behave', before pecking his new wife on the lips.

Only 10 close family and friends were invited to the ceremony and the buffet reception.

Kit said: 'We had a meal and there was some drinking but no dancing or anything like that!'

He will step up to the mayoralty again in May if he wins the March Town Council election again.

He has two children, Lisa and Jonathan, with his former wife, Beverly Owen, who died in 2008.

Beverly was well-known for being crowned Miss Hunstanton in 1967 and qualifying for Miss Anglia several times in her beauty pageant career.

She later worked for 12 years in the Conservative Party office in March, Cambridgeshire.

Visa Online Assistance, the organisation that helped Cllr Owen secure an entry visa for Aiza last October, posted a goodwill message on their Facebook page.

'Congratulations again Ms Aiza Bonus from Tarfac and Kit Owen from UK for getting the approval of your finance visa,' they wrote.

The visa states that Ms Bonus-Owens is from Tarlac in the Phillipines and is due to leave on the fifth of April this year if she doesn't apply for a new one.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
