«Breaking News» Top Gear: Paddy McGuinness shoots his first scenes for motoring show with Freddie Flintoff

It was announced by the BBC in October that he would be joining Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris as the replacements for Matt LeBlanc on Top Gear.

And Paddy McGuinness, 45, appeared to be settling into his new role with ease recently, when he was spotted shooting his first scenes for the popular motoring show in Dunsfold, Surrey.

The TV personality was seen getting behind the wheel of a hearse as he took part in a challenge that involved a race to find a parking space, with former Formula One ace and Sky Sports presenter Damon Hill, 58, also getting in on the action.

Former cricketer Freddie, 41, sat in the passenger seat of the imposing vehicle, as Paddy navigated his way through a series of deserted roads, with each star getting their own moment behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles.

The scenes are set to air later this year, after outgoing 51-year-old host Matt's episodes are aired, starting from next month.

Paddy and Freddie will replace former Friends star Matt in a two-year deal which The Sun reports will be worth £500,000 for each star.

Starting later this year, Take Me Out host Paddy and sportsman Freddie will take over the BBC2 series, after impressing bosses with their 'infectious' chemistry in a secret run-through at a test track last week.

Matt announced he was leaving the show after two years back in May, but Chris Harris will remain, with producers hoping to emulate Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond's chemistry in the show's heyday with the new trio.

Rory Reid, who has co-presented Top Gear since Series 23, will be stepping down from his duties on the main show, but staying within the popular programme's family as he moves to spin-off show Extra Gear.

In a statement, Take Me Out host Paddy said: 'Getting the Top Gear gig is a real honour and I’m thrilled the BBC have given me this opportunity. To be hosting a show I’ve watched and loved from being a small boy is beyond exciting.

'Top Gear fans worldwide are a passionate bunch and I consider myself one of them. Now let’s start up this Great British machine and see what it can do!'

Freddie added  'It’s not often you have the chance to do both of your dream jobs, but I’m now lucky enough to say I will have. I’ve always been passionate about cars and I’m so excited to be joining the Top Gear team.'

Meanwhile, Chris Harris enthused: 'I think you can tell just how much fun we’re going to have making Top Gear with Paddy and Freddie.

'They’re both brilliant, natural entertainers – and their mischief mixed with the most exciting cars on the planet is sure to take the show to the next level. My dream job just got even better.'

A BBC source has told The Sun: 'Paddy and Freddie are real curveball signings which no one predicted and bosses are delighted with them. The BBC think having a British trio – two Lancashire lads and a car buff – is a good move.

'Paddy and Fred are car-mad too. Paddy's one-liners and Fred's sense of adventure should bring back the old days of Top Gear.'

Matt, who joined the BBC Two motoring programme in 2016, announced he was stepping down from the show in May,  because of the demands of the role, and how much it keeps him away from his family and friends.

He signed a two-year deal for £2million following Jeremy Clarkson's departure.

In a statement from BBC Studios, LeBlanc said his 'experience on Top Gear has been great fun' and that he has 'thoroughly enjoyed working with the whole team'.

He added: 'However, the time commitment and extensive travel required to present Top Gear takes me away from my family and friends more than I'm comfortable with.

'It's unfortunate, but for these reasons I will not be continuing my involvement with the show. I will forever be a Top Gear fan and I wish the team continued success. Thanks for a great drive.'

American Matt LeBlanc was a surprise addition to the Top Gear presenting line-up along with Chris Evans more than two years ago, following the departure of Clarkson, Hammond and May.

He then continued hosting the show after Evans threw in the towel after just one series.

Evans said at the time that LeBlanc was the 'captain' and backed him staying on the programme, and viewers praised his efforts when he returned without the BBC Radio 2 DJ.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
