«Breaking News» Tennis champion Serena Williams on spending quality time with her daughter

She effortlessly knocked Eugenie Bouchard out of the Australian Open on Thursday. 

But in a post match interview, Serena Williams changed gears and spoke about spending quality time with her one-year-old daughter Olympia after the US Open in September. 

The 37-year-old athlete said: 'I haven't had many matches since last year but it's OK, I got time to spend time with my daughter, so that meant the most to me.'

'I literally spent every day with her. And I've always been told they grow up so fast so I want to be able to spend time with her,' Serena added. 

'I want to be able to take that time and say that I was able to spend it with her, it meant a lot to me.'

'So I was really happy I was able to do that.'

Working mum: In a post match interview at the Australian Open on Thursday, Serena Williams changed gears and reflected on bonding with her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

During the US Open in September 2018, Serena had an outburst against umpire Carlos Ramos, accusing him of wrongfully penalising her.

She received the first penalty for coaching, the second for racket abuse and the third for verbal abuse.  

Her appearance at the Australian Open comes after she shared a heartfelt message to other working parents ahead of her return to the court in 2019.

'I am getting ready for the first match of the year and my dear sweet baby @olympiaohanian was tired and sad and simply needed mama's love,' she wrote on social media.

'So if it means warming up and stretching while holding my baby that's what #thismamawill do. My fellow moms and dads working - or stay home it's equally as intense - but you inspire me.'

The tennis champion and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, welcomed daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. in September 2017. 

Two months later, the couple tied the knot in a star-studded wedding ceremony in New Orleans.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol.
