«Breaking News» Nicholas Hoult admits ex Jennifer Lawrence is like 'family' and talks fatherhood in candid chat

Nicholas Hoult has admitted ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence is like 'family,' as they reunite for their latest X-Men film.

The British actor told the Evening Standard Magazine that he's still close to the Hollywood star as they 'grew up together,' ahead of the much anticipated Dark Phoenix this summer.

Nicholas, 29, also touched on the recent arrival of his child with partner Bryana Holly in April, saying that he wanted to keep the little one's gender 'precious' for as long as he could.

Nicholas and Jennifer dated after first meeting on the set of X-Men: First Class in 2010, and were together for around four years before splitting in 2014 - after they wrapped filming for sequel Days Of Future Past.

Despite their romance ending the star admitted they remain on good terms, adding: 'It's pretty similar to Skins, we're a big family, we've been doing those movies since we were 20 years old. 

'As much as the Skins crowd grew up together, the X-Men crowd really grew up together. It's been a good eight, nine years making those movies. We've all got to get along, we've all got to have fun.

'The really beautiful thing about this last film is that [writer and director] Kim Berger has given me somewhere nice and new to experiment and go with the character. Which is cool.'

Nicholas and Jennifer have also played lovebirds on-screen in the X-Men series, appearing as Hank McCoy/Beast and Raven Darkhölme/Mystique respectively.

Along with numerous other roles, the actor also welcomed his first child with model partner Bryana in April.

Chatting about fatherhood he said: ' And having a baby puts you in this place where you go, oh, okay, this human is going to change a lot.

'It makes you value time differently, which is why I talk very quickly in interviews now, because I need to get home to them.'

Open: The star also spoke openly about becoming a father late last year, saying he wants to keep his child's gender a secret as it is 'precious'

Nicholas' use of the pronoun 'them' was specific as he and Bryana are yet to publicly reveal their child's gender and the star went on to justify his decision by saying: 'Someone will find out soon enough and that's fine, no big deal, but for now it's my own precious little thing and I'm keeping it.'

During the candid shoot - when he posed sporting an eclectic array of hats - Nicholas also spoke on getting in touch with his feminine side.

The Favourite star added: 'What does that mean? Hopefully being in touch with your feminine side makes you more understanding of what it's like to be female. 

'I think we could all try and have a little more empathy now and then.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
