A man was stabbed with an 'enormous knife' in Kew in what locals described as an attempted car theft this morning.

The victim, who is in his 50s, was knifed near Kew Gardens Underground station in the upscale London suburb just before 8am this morning.

Witnesses said the man was attacked on the way to his car after buying a coffee, leaving the street covered in blood.

'The police lifted a car and took a car away.

'It doesn't seem obvious for something like this to happen at eight in the morning in Kew Gardens. It just looks like an opportunist who has gone for the car. '

Staff at the coffee shop helped the victim and called an ambulance after the attack, witnesses said.

Another witness said 'it looked like they were trying to steal his car'.

A local resident told My London that there was a 'kitchen knife in the middle of the road and blood'.

Yet another witness said: 'Horrific stabbing this morning outside Torellis [coffee shop] - thoughts with the victim.

Another witness said on Twitter: 'Drove past, it looks very serious indeed! Our thoughts go out to the victim and their family.'

Police have cordoned off the scene on the corner of the street as forensic investigators gather evidence.

The cordon is in place just five minutes' walk from the gates of the world-famous botanical gardens.

A Met Police spokesman said: 'Police were called to Royal Parade, Kew at 0754hrs to reports of a male having been stabbed.

'He is being treated in hospital for injuries not thought to be life threatening. No arrests made and enquiries continue.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
