«Breaking News» It's a tie! Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette BOTH win Best Actress in a TV movie at Critics' Choice

With so many incredible performances, it is surely hard to decide just who gets your vote.

And sometimes even the pros can't pick, with Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette  tying for the Best Actress in a movie/miniseries made for TV category at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday night.

They were not alone, with Lady Gaga and Glenn Close also tying for Best Actress.

Amy, nominated for Sharp Objects, and Patricia, up for Escape At Dannemora, beat out Connie Britton, Carrie Coon, Laura Dern and Anna Deavere Smith in their category.

Unusual: But this is not the first tie at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Amy was first up on stage, insisting 'I want the other girl up here. The other woman! Can I read it?'

She then gushed: 'I actually can't think of a more beautiful thing than a tie, because there really isn't a winner when we get to do such great work and we have such wonderful opportunities.'

Both winners then took it in turn to give their thank you speeches, Amy standing with an arm around Patricia as they shared the microphone between them.

'I'm overwhelmed,' said Amy. 'I have so many people to thank, but I don’t want to take it up.'

Patricia thanked Ben Stiller: 'Our incredible, courageous director who really let us explore and remove the yoke from my neck that I felt I’ve carried my whole career of, "But is she likable?" Thank you for taking that off my neck. It was really heavy for me to carry that long.'

'I want her up here!' Amy insisted on Patricia coming up to join her before accepting her gong

And she spoke of her role as Tilly Mitchell, saying: 'A lot of friends of mine who might be bigger body type said, "Thank you. For once in my life, I got to see a bigger boned woman or a different body type woman be sexual, unapologetic and not have it be a fetish or a joke".'

Patricia ended by shouting 'I love my kids', while Amy gave a shout out to husband Darren and daughter Aviana.

Last week, Patricia beat Amy in the same category, at the Golden Globes.

As for Lady Gaga and Glenn Close, the two accepted their awards separately for Best Actress.

Glenn, who last week triumphed ahead of hot favorite Gaga at the Golden Globes, went first.

'The world kindof pits us against us each other in this profession,' she said. 'And I know for all the women in this category, and I think all the women in this room, we celebrate each other and we are proud to be in this room together.'

She then started her thank yous, from the screenwriter to the crews overseas, adding: 'I wanna thank my beloved daughter Annie who helped me create this role and I wanna thank my partner Jonathan Pryce, the courageous performance that he gave.'

As for Gaga, she sobbed with emotion when her name was read out, spilling water on herself as she hugged her director and co-star Bradley Cooper, before stumbling as she walked up the stairs to the stage.

Emotional: After saying how happy she was for Glenn, her mother's close friend, she gave a passionate speech, her voice shaking

Big moment: 'I'm so honoured by this,' started Gaga. 'I went to places in my mind and in my heart that I did know that I had or could. I feel noticed not just for my performance but the inner work it took creating this character'

After saying how happy she was for Glenn, her mother's close friend, she gave a passionate speech, her voice shaking.

'I'm so honored by this,' started Gaga, 32, who had earlier picked up the Best Song gong. 'I went to places in my mind and in my heart that I did know that I had or could. I feel noticed not just for my performance but the inner work it took creating this character.'

She added: 'Thank you Christian [Carino], my love,' before praising Cooper.

'Bradley, you are a magical film maker. And you as just as a magical of a human being. I have never had an experience with a director or an actor like I had with you. You seamlessly were both the love of my life and the man behind the camera. And the trust that you created on set from the cast to the crew.'

Gaga then talked about her role as aspiring singer Ally.

'It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, to relive something I'm not quite sure that I wanted to relive.

'But I want to thank one thing most foremost, I want to thank life, I want to thank life for the experiences I had to draw from to create this role.'

She ended by dedicating her award to those who suffer from alcoholism, like Bradley's character in the movie.

'I would like to dedicate this award tonight to all people who have suffered from alcohol addiction and have watched their loved ones suffer,' she said. 'This is the true star of the film. The true star is not me, it is bravery and perseverance.'

Tonight's ties, while unusual, were not the first at the Critics' Choice Awards, decided by vote by the members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

Back in 2003 Daniel Day-Lewis and Jack Nicholson memorably tied in the Best Actor category for their movies Gangs of New York and About Schmidt. At the time just three stars were nominated in each category, leaving the late Robin Williams, up for One Hour Photo, the only nominee without a statuette.

Hilariously, he gave the acceptance speech.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
