Hollyoaks star Jimmy Essex is engaged to his boyfriend Charles following a six-year relationship.
In a sweet Instagram post, the actor, who played Adam Donovan on the Channel 4 soap, revealed his long-term partner popped the question during a romantic trip in Sri Lanka on Monday.
The 34-year-old looked smitten as he marked the celebratory moment with a kiss and held up his new engagement ring in delight.

Looking as loved-up as ever, the couple sported matching white shirts as they cosied up to each other during their sun-soaked getaway.
Musician Charles also rang in the milestone as he posted the identical shot, penning: '6 years and counting... He said yes'.

Tamara Wall, who is also set to wed following her engagement in July last year, beamed with delight as she commented: 'Oh my f****** god!!!!!!! Best thing ever!!!!!!!!!!'.
Also sending over their well wishes was Blue's Duncan James, who penned: 'Awwwwwww massive congrats guys xxx', while X Factor star Marcus Collins wrote: 'CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO'.

Meanwhile, the soap star left his role as hairdresser Adam in May last year after he was killed off the show by his father Glenn (Bob Cryer).
Speaking on his dramatic exit following his two-year stint on the series, Glenn previously said: 'I think it's really, really shocking. I like the build-up to it – a good guy gone bad and then it turns back round, but then it's too late.
'I'm going to miss chatting to everyone... I have had the best, best, best two and a half years ever! Thank you to everyone involved. The crew, the cast, everyone - you've been absolutely brilliant.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
