«Breaking News» Government shutdown makes Trump CANCEL Davos trip and he blames Democrats for 'intransigence'

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he won't attend the World economic Forum this month in Davos, Switzerland, and blamed the decision on congressional Democrats who he says are responsible for prolonging a partial U.S. government shutdown.

'Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum,' the president tweeted from Air Force One on his way to Texas

'My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF!'

Trump was headed for a pair of events in the border town of McAllen, continuing his bully-pulpit approach to arguing for a wall along more of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Partisan disagreements over the project, which was the president's signature campaign promise, drove a stalemate that caused the lapse in funding on December 21 for about one-quarter of the government.

Trump had suggested hours earlier as he left the White House for Texas that he would go to Davos if the partial government shutdown isn't brought to an end; that developed into a definitive decision while he was aboard Air Force One

Trump said Thursday morning as he left the White Houe for Texas that he hadn't yet made the decision to cancel his Davos trip.

'I intended to go and speak in front of the world financial community in Davos. That's still on. But if the shutdown continues ... I won't go,' he said then.

'I had planned to go. It's been very successful when I went. We have a great story to tell. We have the best job numbers we've ever had, in many ways. Certainly with African Americans, with Hispanic, with Asian Americans.

'And overall, we have the best job numbers in at least 50 years. We have a lot of great things happening. The economy is incredible.'

The partial government shutdown, now in its 20th day, could end by the meeting's Jan. 22 start date. It concludes on Jan. 25. But Trump's decision to call of his trip could indicate a much longer horizon for the domestic conflict.

China's Vice President Wang Qishan is also expected to attend, but it is not clear if there were any arrangements for a meeting between him and Trump during the annual gathering.

China and the United States have taken a 90-day pause in implementing tariffs to hammer out a trade deal.

The Swiss meeting could also provide Trump with opportunities to discuss better terms of trade with the European Union, Japan, Canada and Mexico.

Trump said Thursday morning that he has been 'negotiating and having tremendous success with China.'

'And I find China, frankly, in many ways, to be far more honorable than Cryin' Chuck and Nancy,' he added, in a slap at Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

'I really do. I think that China is actually much easier to deal with than the opposition party.'

Trump's January 2018 Davos trip was also threatened by a government shutdown. That one, hoewver, lasted less than 48 hours.

‘Because of the Democrats...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
