These are the first pictures of the wealthy Russian businessman reported to have been held by the FBI in a case that has been linked to a US-British security expert detained in Moscow.
Dmitry Makarenko was detained in the Northern Mariana Islands, a US commonwealth in the Pacific Ocean, the day after American Paul Nicholas Whelan was arrested by the Russians.
Makarenko is believed to be a graduate from Vladivostok State Naval Academy.
He is suspected by the FBI of conspiring to export defense articles including night-vision scopes without appropriate licenses and is accused of money laundering.
He was transferred to custody in Florida, say Russian sources.

The Russian Foreign Ministry had said Makarenko was held after 'arriving on remote Saipan Island with his wife, underage children and elderly parents.
'He was detained by FBI personnel at the airport right after his arrival.'
Russian news outlet The Bell identified Makarenko as the general director of Artayar, a company which built the largest shopping mall in Vladivostok, Russia's Pacific capital.
The report said that with the help of a mediator in the United States, Ukrainian-born Vladimir Nevidomy, Makarenko is accused by American authorities of four deals to supply military night vision devices, thermal viewers and fulminate caps.
He allegedly paid for the goods using bank accounts in Shanghai and Riga.
Nevidomy pleaded guilty in June 2018 and was sentenced to 26 months in jail.
The maximum term under the articles Makarenko is charged with is 20 years in prison.
Makarenko's businesses in the far east of Russia are mainly dealing with real estate and logistics, reported The Bell.
His wife Elena - pictured - is listed as a co-owner of at least two of his companies, and her father Valery Flintsov, who has key Russian political connections, it is claimed, appears to be a business partner.

The ministry said the United States detained Russian citizen Dmitry Makarenko on Dec. 29 on the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth in the Pacific Ocean (pictured)
The Bell's report said it failed to get replies to its questions from the Makarenko family and companies.
His full name and age match the description provided by the Russian Foreign Ministry which revealed his detention.
Elena has suggested online she has a home in Boston.
And Makarenko posted two years ago: 'My (family) have lived in Boston for six months.
'They like it more although I vote for Miami.'
The Makarenko case has been linked to that of Paul Nicholas Whelan, 48, since he was held the day after the US man - who also has British, Canadian and Irish citizenship - was detained in Moscow.
Whelan has been charged by the Russians with participating in a 'spy mission'.
He was taken into custody by Russia's FSB security service on December 28.
His family protested his innocence, saying he was in Moscow for a wedding.
The Russians say he received a flash drive with the names and details of Russians engaged in secret work.
He was detained by armed FSB officers at the five star Metropol Hotel near Red Square in Moscow.
There have been separate claims that Whelan was held as a 'pawn' to free 30-year old flame-haired 'spy with the golden bullets' Maria Butina who has admitted acting as a Kremlin agent in the United States.
Whelan (pictured) was dishonorably discharged from the Marines and exaggerated cop credentials
Makarenko was accused, along with Vladimir Nevidomy (pictured left and right) of conspiring to export defense articles including night-vision scopes from America to Russia without US approval
He father Valery Butin, 56, said this week: 'I just want her to come back home.'
On a possible swap, he said: 'I do not want to discuss it. It may cause harm (to my daughter).'
Butina - who has a necklace feature golden bullets - is seen by the US as a a pro-gun campaigner with links to Russian intelligence who used her role to infiltrate powerful circles in Washington.
She 'developed ties with US citizens and infiltrated political groups'.
Russian espionage expert Gennady Sokolov said a spy swap with Butina was unlikely.
'Butina is expected to be freed quite soon due to the agreement she reached with US prosecutors,' he said.
'So I don't see any connection between the two cases or a possible exchange.'
However, there maybe more similarity between the cases of Whelan and Makarenko.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
