«Breaking News» Elaine Paige reveals she has been using hearing aids for two years

Elaine Paige has revealed that she is battling hearing loss and has been relying on aids for the last two years after her career in music damaged her ears.

The West End icon, 70, has spent 55 years in the business and claims that years of singing and using headphones have affected her ability to hear clearly.

Elaine wears hearing aids every day but is insistent that the condition isn't slowing her down or affecting her ability to work.

The star, who has been hiding the aids behind her blonde mane, told the Sun: 'I'm a victim of my career having worked in the music business for over 55 years.'

'Using headphones, singing with musicians and orchestras in confined surroundings obviously damages the ear.' 

Elaine, who was pictured wearing hearing aids during a game of tennis over the festive period, has starred in countless high profile productions including Evita, Cats and Chess.

The performer certainly isn't slowing down as she is slated to jet to Australia for a number of gigs as well as several projects on English soil.     

Elaine was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995 and received five years of treatment before she was given the all clear.  

Speaking previously about the idea of her cancer returning, she said: 'Once you have had breast cancer the fear of it never really leaves you and every year I am checked over and I make sure that I check my breasts.'

However she added that she has been healthy for more than two decades and is very careful about what she eats, while still trying to enjoy her life.  

The legendary singer had been dating her marketing executive boyfriend Justin Mallinson, 45, for eight years, but the pair split in July last year.

Insiders close to the pair insisted that they split amicably and remain friends.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
