A Delaware animal shelter has found an underfed dog abandoned outside its facility with a note that said her owner became homeless and could no longer care for it.
The female terrier mix named Sky was found on Wednesday outside the Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington, according to the News Journal.
'Please take care of Sky,' the note read. 'She is six years old and friendly. I couldn't take care of her. I became homeless and couldn't feed her. She is not sick, just hungry, very friendly. Please find her a home. Please.'
Shelter director Kerry Flanagan Bruni said Sky is about 20 pounds underweight, weighing in at 30 pounds right now.
The Delaware Humane Association is accepting donations specifically for Sky.

'It appears just to be that she wasn't being fed the proper amount," Flanagan Bruni said.
'She's very sweet, very friendly' to both people and dogs, the director said, adding that other than being very thin, 'she's doing great.'

The shelter says Sky will be held several days, at least through Monday, and then fostered.
Applications are currently being accepted to help care for Sky, with a final determination for her initial placement on hold until Monday, when what's called a 'stray hold' expires.
The assumed owner, who said they were without a place to stay, could possibly reclaim Sky if that person's situation has changed.
'We would be willing to work with them to reunite them, but it would really depend on the situation and the owner’s circumstances,' Flanagan Bruni said.

If reuniting did prove to be the best option for Sky, the person would have to show proof of ownership as well as reimburse the shelter for any medical care provided, but not would not be charged a fee to reclaim her.
'Sometimes, the best option is to surrender a pet if you are unable to care for them, which includes shelter,' the director said.
About 15-20 animals are abandoned to the shelter each year, Flanagan Bruni estimated.
Abandoning is different than surrender, however.
A surrender is not anonymous, requires an appointment so the shelter can evaluate the animals and the shelter's current available resources, and does involve a $75 suggested donation.
Walk-in surrenders are not accepted by the no-kill shelter in Delaware, but it has accepted a lesser donation when needed, Flanagan Bruni said.
In contrast to the relatively small number of abandoned animals, last year, the Delaware Humane Association took in about 400 owner surrenders and nearly 600 stray animals.
The locations also accepts animals, when it can, from other shelters that are lacking in space or resources.
The shelter posted a Facebook status with a direct link for donations to support Sky's recovery on Thursday, which had raised $812 by Saturday afternoon.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
