«Breaking News» Dancing On Ice EXCLUSIVE: Brian McFadden and Alex Murphy WILL skate on Sunday night

Brian McFadden will be taking part in Sunday night's edition of Dancing On Ice, despite suffering a serious injury in rehearsals.

The former Westlife star, 38, took a tumble on the rink on Saturday while perfecting his routine with pro partner Alex Murphy, ahead of his Sunday night debut.

But while it was touch-and-go whether doctors would give him the green light to skate, MailOnline can reveal he will be pushing on through.

A Dancing On Ice insider revealed: 'Brian is focused and ready to go and smash it tonight in his performance, with Alex.

'He has been having physio today and, with Alex’s guidance and support, they are both ready to go out and give a fabulous performance on their first week in the competition.'

Brian took to Instagram ahead of the live show, with his co-stars, looking full of beans, captioning it: 'We’re ready for action! Week 2 #dancingonice'

This comes after Brian said, via ITV, how 'frustrated' he was, but that it was 'out of his hands'.

Earlier on Sunday, the singer said: 'This is really frustrating for me because for weeks I’ve been nervous about getting here and nervous about just doing my first dress rehearsal in the studio.

'I do it and I love it and I was so happy, so relaxed, ready to go and this stupid shoulder has literally put me right back to the start again. But now I’m nervous and I don’t know what’s gonna happen.'

He went on: 'It’s so annoying cause all the work I’ve put in to get here and I felt so good after the dress rehearsal I was like, "yes I’m ready to go", and then now to possibly not even being able to do the show because of an injury. So annoying. So frustrating. And such a stupid thing to do as well.

'Right now it’s not my decision, it’s gonna be the physio’s decision. If she’s happy for me to skate then I’ll do it but we’re probably going to have to fix a few things because there a lot of things where I lift [Alex] straight above my head so we are going to have to alter the routine going on how my shoulder is.'

The show returned last week, but Brian - along with the likes of Love Island's Wes Nelson and presenter Saira Khan - were not set to make their debut til Sunday's instalment.

Alex said, after Brian's slip: 'We had a fall, it was pretty bad. He was really anxious after that but I told him not to worry and hopefully it's out of his system.'

However Alex insisted that Brian has come on leaps and bounds since he first began learning to skate, saying: 'He has come on drastically from when he first started and could hardly stand on the ice.

'He's also lost weight from all the training, but he doesn't think so because he still eats burgers.'

Bromance: Added pressure comes in the form of Brian's friendly competition with fellow contestant James Jordan, of Strictly Come Dancing fame

Like a duck to (frozen) water: Last week, James was criticised when he made an effortless debut on the rink, with viewers arguing that, as a pro ballroom dancer, he had an unfair advantage in the competition

Earlier this week, the American skating pro - who was teamed up on last year's series with Kem Cetinay and finished in fourth place overall - told MailOnline: 'Brian is doing great and is a dream to work with.

'But we've got some big lifts to do. And Brian, who is a goofy and funny guy, will be showing a more serious side of himself because our first routine is definitely more serious.'

Added pressure comes in the form of Brian's friendly competition with fellow contestant James Jordan, of Strictly Come Dancing fame.

'Brian is pushing himself - he's tired, sore, exhausted. He and James have so much banter, they're like best friends and they adore each other. They have a bromance. But they are also each other's biggest rivals,' Alex revealed.

Dancing On Ice airs from 6PM on ITV on Sunday night.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
