Those hoping to be considered for the position must submit their very best festive tale in the hope of impressing the recruiters.

If successful the taster, who must live in Manchester, will be expected to judge a variety of sausages in pastry with an added twist. He or she will also be able to bring along a friend to share in the fun.

Posting to Airtasker, a website which enables users to outsource tasks, chef Mark wrote: 'We're searching for one Mancunian resident to attend the ultimate Christmas taste-test for this year's star of the show - pigs in blankets - and give us some honest feedback to help us perfect our Christmas nibbles menu.'

Explaining the job, he continued: 'We're interested to hear if traditional pigs in blankets suffice, or whether we can open your mind (and taste buds) to some tasty new twists on the festive classic?'

The post was soon inundated with replies from hopeful candidates sharing their suitability for the role and posting their funny stories.

Applicant Ellis, from Manchester, wrote: 'My funniest Christmas moment has got to be when my Mam was under the tree reaching the presents from the back when it fell on her, leaving just her bum sticking out and no one could help her from laughing! (sic)

'Thankfully she wasn't hurt, but there were pine needles everywhere, and that was the last year we had a real Christmas tree because she spent all day hoovering them up and picking them out her hair!'.

Meanwhile hopeful Chris added: 'Imagine turning up to your future wife's family Christmas dinner after being told it was fancy dress.

'I turned up dress like a fat Santa and no one single other person was dressed up. To say I was a little embarrassed was an understatement but hey!

'The family blooming loved it and now happily married. How her dad agreed to let me have her hand in marriage after that I'll never know.'

Elsewhere Lily added her own story, writing: 'My funniest Christmas memory is coming back from our traditional Christmas Day trip to the pub to find that our dog had managed to neatly unwrap and take out of their boxes three Thornton's chocolate Santas and had emptied 2 boxes of roses chocolates.

'All in all he had eaten 750g chocolate which is very poisonous for dogs. So we spent the day at the vets with him being force fed charcoal to make him throw it up, while my mum and sister were hysterically crying.

'He was okay in the end and returned home very sheepish. Not exactly the Christmas Day we had imagined.'

She confessed: 'I was wrapping presents in my bedroom a couple of years ago. I was really tired and overwhelmed - there was paper and presents and sellotape everywhere.

'I was trying to pile everybody's presents separately to keep them from getting muddled up, but I fear they also got muddled up with some of my stuff...... some dirty laundry, in fact.

'Let's just say that, on Christmas morning when my nephew Liam opened his scarf and gloves, he got the shock of his life! And hasn't stopped reminding me about it since.'

Head chef Mark ou...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
