«Breaking News» Chipotle may rehire manager after dine and dash tweets from 'victim' emerge

Chipotle is reconsidering its controversial decision to fire one of its restaurant managers for telling a group of black customers they had to prove they could pay before ordering, after a series of tweets emerged showing the alleged victims boasting about 'dining and dashing'.

Masaud Ali, 21, claimed he'd been a target of racism after he was refused service at the restaurant in St Paul, Minnesota, unless he paid first, with the manager telling him it was because 'you never have money when you come in here.'

'Can a group of young well established African American get a bite to eat after a long workout session. @ChipotleTweets??' he wrote in a tweet alongside a video of the confrontation, on Friday.

The post sparked a furious backlash against the manager and Chipotle, who fired the employee the following day.

But it appears the fast food chain may have been to quick to act after old tweets of Ali's emerged where he talks about 'dining and dashing' - the illegal practice of ordering food and running out before paying for it.

'Aye man i think chopotle catchin up to us fam. should we change locations and yoooooo what should we do about the other thang,' read a since-deleted post on Ali's account from 2016.

Another post from March 2015 read: 'if you a real ass n***a we [gonna go to] Applebees [sic] and eat as much a we can and tip the nice lady 20cents and walk the f**k out.'

On Sunday, Chipotle conceded they may have acted too hastily in firing the St Pauls branch manager.

'Our actions were based on the facts known to us immediately after the incident, including video footage, social media posts and conversations with the customer, manager, and our employees,' Chipotle Chief Communications Officer Laurie Schalow told Fox News on Sunday. 'We now have additional information which needs to be investigated further. We want to do the right thing, so after further investigation we will re-train and re-hire if the facts warrant it.'

The manager, whose name on Instagram is D0mMarie, shared a petition titled 'Help Chipotle Manager Get Job Back' on social media in the wake of the incident. The petition appears to have been created by someone who heard her story and felt sorry for her.

'Can’t thank you enough for the kind words, positive vibes, prayers and warm thoughts,' she wrote in a post on Sunday.

Ali insisted yesterday that he was targeted because of his race.

'It sounded really racist - the way she said it was racist,' Ali told the Star Tribune on Friday. 'She asked for proof of income as if I'm getting a loan.'

He said he was also disappointed that none of the other employees who were on duty spoke up.

Video of the confrontation has been seen millions of times since it was posted Friday.

On Saturday, the chain released a statement saying 'what happened here is not how our employees should treat our customer'.

'We don't ask customers to pay for their meals prior to making them in our restaurants. The manager should have made their food and withheld giving it to them until they paid for it,' Chipotle told the Star Tribune in a statement, explaining its policy.

Past tweets seem to imply that the man who posted the video, Masaud Ali, is guilty of dining and dashing in the past

'Regardless, this is not how we treat our customers and as a result, the manager has been terminated and the restaurant is being retrained to ensure something like this doesn't happen again.'

Chipotle confirmed they are still investigating the incident, including assessment of Ali's numerous tweets that seemed to imply that he had eaten at establishments before without paying.

In one he discussed stealing Tabasco bottles from Chipotle and in another it read: 'Guys we're borrowing food... that's it. And if the lady tries to stop you at the door don't hesitate to truck the sh*t out of that b***h.' Ali has since deleted all of these posts.

Ali, who records show is on probation for theft, did not reply to a request from the Miami Herald.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
