«Breaking News» Strictly Come Dancing: Kate Silverton reveals she hears her late dad's voice when she performs

Kate Silverton has revealed she sometimes hears the voice of her late father when she performs on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 48-year-old BBC newsreader told The Mirror she hears a pep talk from him as she performs her routines with pro Aljaž Škorjanec, after her father passed away from cancer in 2015.

It comes as Kate and Aljaz prepare to take to the floor at the incredible Blackpool Tower Ballroom this weekend, dancing an American Smooth to Everlasting Love by Love Affair.

She said: 'My dad Terry, a salt of the earth London cabbie, used to take me swimming and when I was very nervous before a race he would give me a pep talk.

''Come on, girl,'' he used to say. I can hear his voice now. He would have loved the Viennese waltz.'

It comes as Kate also recently revealed that she is back to her pre-baby weight after shedding the pounds due to the gruelling training schedule, adding that she could now fit back into her old wedding dress from eight years earlier.

Speaking on Lorraine this week she said: 'I’m absolutely thrilled. I feel like I’ve won already. We’ve had such a good time. I don’t want it to end at all.'

Talking about her children and going to Blackpool, she said: 'It’s the longest I’ve ever left them for… Wilbur said, "I just want you to win Mummy".'

Kate and Aljaz will join the seven other remaining couples performing in Blackpool this weekend, where another pair will sadly be eliminated.

Last week saw Danny John-Jules and his partner Amy Dowden lose out after the judges chose to save cricketer Graeme Swann in the dance-off.

Kate also said that after promising to jump into the sea should she make it to Blackpool, she was wholly intent on fulfilling that promise.

She said: 'I’m all up for [jumping in the sea], however, last night, I’m still barely together with my steps. 

'So there is a lot of pressure on this week, so I’ve been told we have to get everything done before I contemplate anything else other than dancing. At the moment all we are focusing on is the American Smooth.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
