«Breaking News» Richard Madden, 32, reveals he's in talks for second Bodyguard series

It is the show that shattered records to become the biggest BBC drama in a decade.

And Richard Madden has revealed Bodyguard could return for a second series, as he is meeting the show’s creator Jed Mercurio later this month.

The Scottish star said: ‘I’m having a conversation with him in about ten days or something, when I’m back in the country, and we are just going to chat through some ideas.’

Madden, 32, became a heart-throb overnight playing brooding yet troubled protection officer David Budd.

More than 10.4million people were glued to their TV screens to find out who had killed Home Secretary Julia Montague – Keeley Hawes – in the show finale.

Madden added: ‘We never intended to make another one and I don’t know, I’m excited to see what he’s got, especially because David [Budd] had quite a busy couple of months. So what do we do with him next?

Madden said he was particularly concerned the audience would stop watching the show after the death of Miss Hawes’s character, Julia Montague, pictured above with Madden, who played Richard Budd in the series

'Because he probably needs a break… but him, on the beach with a pina colada, I don’t think people are going to watch that as much. Less anxiety though, I would like less anxiety.’

Speaking at Bafta in London, where he is on the jury to decide the shortlist for the academy’s EE rising star award, Madden said he was yet to regain his composure after the series’ success.

He said: ‘It’s still strange and it keeps rolling because the show was really great over here and did so well and then it’s in America now [where it is streaming on Netflix], and it’s this rolling thing.’

But he added: ‘It’s just thrilling that a little show that didn’t have a huge budget and just had a bunch of actors working really hard, it’s really inspiring that that has done well and not for any kind of glory, we just thought we were making a show we want to.’

The EE Bafta Rising Star Award shortlist will be announced on January 3, and the winner will be revealed at the awards on February 10.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
