«Breaking News» 'People are assassinated in different ways': Paparazzo Darryn Lyons on Princess Diana death

Princess Diana died in tragic circumstances 21 years ago, and discussions about the circumstances of her fatal car crash continue to run wild - just ask Darryn Lyons.

Speaking to Who magazine on Thursday, the former celebrity paparazzo compared the royal's death to the assassination of U.S. President John F Kennedy in 1963.

'Knowing people assassinate people in different ways, I think there are questions still to be answered,' Darryn, 53, said.

He added: 'Just like there is a huge amount relating to the death of JFK and whether or not he was killed by the FBI. In my opinion, I probably think he was murdered as well.'

Princess Diana suffered fatal injuries and died along with her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and her driver and security guard Henri Paul on August 31, 1997.

Lyons became mayor of Geelong in Victoria in 2013.

The Andrews Labor Government sacked him and the council he led in 2016, after an inquiry reported dysfunction and bullying in City Hall.

The former king of the paparazzi recently told The Daily Telegraph that the official account of Diana's tragic 1997 accident, 'isn't necessarily the truth'.

Lyons told the paper: 'Everyone says it was a tragic accident... some very strange things happened that night and I was a part of many of the strange things that happened that night.'

The former head of Big Pictures photo agency, which used paparazzi photos, said he 'fears' what he makes public as he went through some 'some very funny things' after Diana's passing.

However Darryn admits he has 'no proof that the Princess of Wales was murdered'.

'I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of the truth of the story. I don't even think her sons know ... they would have been told the story but it isn't necessarily the truth,' he said.

Writing in his column in The Geelong Advertiser, the photographer claimed that the princess' death was the 'most traumatic' moment of his life.

He claimed 'hell broke loose' after the 1997 crash in a Paris road tunnel which left photographers locked up, offices raided and papers seized.

'I feel lucky I wasn't killed in all the cloak-and-dagger stuff that was going on at the time,' he wrote.

'There were death threats against me, and my staff were abused on the street. The aggression shocked me.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
