«Breaking News» Mexican governor vows revenge on a drug lord who killed a US teacher

The governor of a northern Mexico state where a North Carolina man was slain last month said the alleged perpetrator will pay dearly for the crime.

Chihuahua state Govornor Javier Corral said Sunday that Patrick Braxton-Andrew is believed to have been killed by a drug trafficker named Jose Noriel Portillo Gil, known as ‘El Chueco’ while walking in the Copper Canyons.

Corral said federal police are on the hunt for Portillo Gil, who is part of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Corral said the 34-year-old Spanish teacher's body had been buried, and then exhumed and left in the open by his assailants.

More than a hundred police and volunteers combed the area for clues after Braxton-Andrew disappeared on October 28.

Corral said sharing the news with the family broke his heart.

Patrick Braxton-Andrew, 34, was last seen by hotel staff in Urique a former mining village in Mexico's Chihuahua state, on October 28.

His family reported him missing when he didn't show up in Mexico City to meet his younger brother on October 30 after spending a few days hiking in Chihuahua's Copper Canyon.

They set up a base in Mexico City and have been working with local and US authorities to find him since then

But on Thursday, they revealed that the state government has informed them he was killed by a criminal organization.

In a post on a Facebook page devoted to finding Braxton-Andrew, they said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce that Patrick died on October 28th at the hands of a criminal organization that operates in the area where he was traveling.

It added that 'authorities are searching for those responsible to bring them to justice.'

They added: 'Join us in celebrating his life as he would want us to do. We will always remember Patrick and his joy for life. We love you PBA.'

Portillo Gil is linked to the powerful Sinaloa cartel, whose boss Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman is currently on trial in New York.

Guzman is accused of smuggling more than 155 tons of cocaine into the United States over 25 years and faces life in prison if found guilty.

Portillo Gil runs the cartel's business in the region around Urique, according to Mexican media reports.

His gang holds control over the towns of Mesa de Arturo, Bahuichivo, Cerocahui and San Rafael, the majority indigenous cities whose residents have been displaced by the narco wars.

He was thought to have been killed in April last year, but resurfaces when he and his accomplices attacked the State Security Commission in Urique.

Mexican officials have not elaborated about how Braxton-Andrew crossed paths with drug traffickers or why he was killed.

His family told the Charlotte Observer that he had been planning his trip to Mexico for months.

He planned the trip around the country's Day of the Dead celebrations – which run from October 31 until November 2.

But a break in his school schedule meant he had a few extra days of travel before then so he flew from North Carolina to Mexico on October 24.

Braxton-Andrew planned to take a ride on 'El Chepe,' a tourist-friendly train ride that passes through Copper Canyon, before heading to Mexico City.

His family said eight people had planned to join Braxton-Andrew for the Day of the Dead celebrations and he had also thrown out invitations for anyone who wanted to join him on 'El Chepe.'

He had traveled extensively across Latin America and was as prepared as anyone to travel solo there, his family said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
