«Breaking News» Kate Middleton adopts headband for special occasions to distinguish her from Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Cambridge has been sporting a new favourite accessory of late - the headband.

Kate, 36, wore a chic black velvet headband by milliner Jane Taylor while attending a service of remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Sunday, along with a recycled green coat by designer Catherine Walker.

The mother-of-three sported another headband by Juliette Botterill, adorned with blue flowers, when attending the wedding of friend Sophie Carter in Norfolk.

The Duchess first wore the new millinery style in the form of a woven cream headband decorated with flowers, also by Juliette Botterill, at Prince Louis' christening back in July.

Experts have suggested that Kate's 'regal' choice of accessory may be a way of distinguishing herself from the Duchess of Sussex, 37.

This green coat is one of the Duchess of Cambridge's favourites, and it's easy to see why.

It's a bespoke creation by Catherine Walker and we first saw it on St Patrick’s Day last year (pictured, right). The fit and flare shape is super flattering, and the gold buttons are very reminiscent of the red Catherine Walker coat she's worn before. The contrast velvet collar and cuffs are nice little touches too.

For a recent remembrance service, she teamed it with velvet heels and a clutch bag by Jimmy Choo, Cassandra Goad pearl earrings and a Jane Taylor headpiece. It's a very autumnal and sophisticated ensemble that fitted the event perfectly.

Stylist Rochelle White told FEMAIL: 'This is definitely a more regal style that Kate is wearing. The style of the headbands are very similar to a tiara but can be worn on most royal engagements.'

She continued: 'I think Kate could be trying to distinguish herself from Meghan. They have been compared a lot recently in regards to their fashion choices, styles and colour palettes.

'Kate has fine-tuned her style and status over the years and I think this is her becoming more confident in her royal role.'

While the Duchess of Cambridge opted for a headband at the service of remembrance at Westminster Abbey, the Duchess of Sussex opted for a black beret-style hat by milliner Stephen Jones.

Meghan opted for a traditional fascinator by the same designer when she attended Louis' christening in July.

Royal fans have praised Kate's new headbands, agreeing that they distinguish her look from Meghan's and describing the choice as 'creative'.

One Instagram user wrote 'I think they look lovely on her', while another added 'I love this trend so much. Hope to see more of these!'

Others said the headbands reminded them of Tudor-style headpiece, suggesting they distinguished Kate's position as future Queen.

One fan commented: 'Love the Tudor style!!! Reminiscent of a crown/tiara distinguishing the the future Princess of Wales and Queen Consort.'

Another posted: 'They remind me of tiaras, I like them :)'

Prior to baby Louis' christening in July, the Duchess of Cambridge had gone for more traditional headpiece for formal occasions.

However, she did opt for a more traditional fascinator styles for the Remembrance Day commemorations at the Cenotaph on Sunday, as well as Princess Eugenie's wedding last month.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
