«Breaking News» UK WEATHER cold snap from Russia eastern winds bring freezing temperatures next week

Britain will experience its last bit of winter sunshine today before temperatures plummet overnight and Scandinavian winds bring a bitter cold snap next week.

While blue skies and sunshine have made for idyllic winter walks over the weekend, Britons are likely to want to stay indoors from Monday as the mercury drops and the UK clouds over with rain and fog expected too.

Below-freezing temperatures have already started to creep in across Scotland and northern parts of England, with Inverness waking up to -5C this morning and Teesside feeling the chill of -2C.

This evening mild conditions up and down the country will disappear with lows of -4C in the Glens of Scotland.

Snow could fall over mountains in Scotland and Wales, as well as the Pennines in Yorkshire on Tuesday, but Britons will mostly be faced with rain, mist and fog as they commute to work throughout the week.

Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst told MailOnline: 'After a lovely day today it will be colder and cloudier as we go through to the next working week.

'On Monday there will be sunny spells and scattered showers across the UK, one or two of those showers could be snow fall in places like the Pennines and the Scottish highlands.

'It will feel a lot colder because of wind coming from the east, so anywhere on that eastern coast of England is going to be exposed to the cold.

'On Tuesday there's a risk of snow falling on the Welsh Hills, Dartmoor and Exmoor and the hills of southern England.'

Maximum temperatures next week will be just 10C, but a cold weather front from the east will make it feel considerably colder - around 4C in the south east and closer to freezing heading further north.

There are no weather warnings in place, with ice and snow only expected in the highest regions, but the cold snap will be a striking contrast to the more milder weather Britain has basked in since the end of the summer.

It will remain mild for most of the day, particularly in west and south western England and Scotland, with highs of 12.4C recorded in the Outer Hebrides and 11C in Culdrose, Cornwall this morning.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
