«Breaking News» I'm A Celebrity launch: Anne Hegerty breaks down in TEARS as she says she's 'ready to go'

Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty was in tears during the launch of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here on Sunday, as she threatened to quit the show just hours after entering camp.

The 60-year-old star of The Chase struggled to contain her emotions as she saw the brutal reality of living in Snake Rock.

Fans were quick to share their sympathy for Anne as they took to Twitter to pledge their support, especially as the star has spoken candidly about her struggles with Asperger's syndrome.

Anne joined fellow campmates Emily Atack, Rita Simons, James McVey and Fleur East in making their way to Snake Rock, after losing a challenge to see who would get the best camp.

She then proceeded to break down in tears, saying: 'I'm really close to saying I can't do this.'

Emily explained in the Bush Telegraph: 'Anne got a bit upset so we gave her a cuddle. It's overwhelming. I think she was just expressing how we were all feeling, we just didn't want to admit it!'

Fleur added: 'I feel like we all have to be there for her and the minute that we all rallied around her, she just felt so much better.'

With plenty of support from her fellow campmates - and a few hugs from kind-hearted Emily - Anne's spirits seemed to lift, and she later said: 'I like them. They're my team!'

Viewers took to Twitter in droves to share their support for Anne, with many saying she was their favourite campmate already.

One wrote: 'Awh Anne's all sad and that makes me sad,' while another added: 'We love you Anne.'

A third also wrote: 'Anne crying breaks my heart :) I'm defo rooting for her 100%.'

THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF AUTISM

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people with autism have trouble with social, emotional and communication skills that usually develop before the age of three and last throughout a person’s life.

Specific signs of autism include:

  • Reactions to smell, taste, look, feel or sound are unusual

  • Difficulty adapting to changes in routine

  • Unable to repeat or echo what is said to them

  • Difficulty expressing desires using words or motions

  • Unable to discuss their own feelings or other people’s

  • Difficulty with acts of affection like hugging

  • Prefer to be alone and avoid eye contact

  • Difficulty relating to other people

  • Unable to point at objects or look at objects when others point to them

Before entering the jungle Anne spoke candidly about her struggles with autism, as she remained un-diagnosed with the condition until she reached her 40s.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun on Friday, the star explained that bosses had insisted she share any concerns with them during her time in the jungle.

'They keep saying, 'You must say if there's a problem', and I keep saying, 'I'll be fine.' And they keep saying, 'No no no that's not good enough you have to promise if there's a problem.

'I might get peopled out, there might just be too many people around. I might feel like going to sit in the pool until everyone has shut up a bit...

'On the other hand it might have advantages if I'm not as good as other people at picking up on bad atmospheres I'll be happy drifting along.'

It came as this year's ten campmates finally made their arrival in the jungle on Sunday night, and Holly Willoughby made her debut as host alongside Declan Donnelly.

I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here continues on Monday 19th November at 9pm on ITV.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
