«Breaking News» I'm A Celebrity: Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby 'consulted Ant McPartlin on script'

They've presented I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! as a double act since its inception in 2002.

And Declan Donnelly has reportedly been in constant contact with his best friend Ant McPartlin ahead of hosting the ITV show without him for the first time.

The Geordie presenter allegedly consulted Ant - who is taking time out from his TV duties following his drink driving conviction and rehab stint - over the script, ensuring he was happy with his dialogue with stand-in host Holly Willoughby.

The new hosting duo reportedly waited until just before the show aired to see 'what felt right' with the script.

Dec and Holly didn't refer to Ant by name during the opening sequence, instead joking about how strange it was to be joined by a woman. 

'It’s a little bit different because I’ve never done it with a girl before. I usually do it with a bloke. Every night. People seem to like it', Dec quipped. 

A TV insider told The Sun: 'The pressure was on in the opening scene to both introduce Holly and explain Ant’s absence from the series for the time in 16 years, but also keep it light and funny for the family show.

'Dec was sure to keep Ant in the loop on that particular link as he didn’t want to seem at all insensitive, but the discussions with the production team about the exact wording were taken right to the wire.

'Everyone felt the pressure was on to hit just the right note, without an uncomfortable situation coming across that way on-screen and several suggestions were scrapped along the way.'

MailOnline has contacted Ant and Dec's representatives for comment.

Well wishes: Ant tweeted a message of good luck to Dec just hours before the launch 

The claims come after Ant tweeted a message of good luck to Dec and Holly ahead of the launch episode.

The presenter wrote on the micro-blogging site: 'All the very best of luck to the little fella and @hollywills for the show tonight. Lots of love from the big fella!! [sic]' 

Meanwhile, Dec took to Instagram on the same day - which also happens to be Ant's 43rd birthday - to upload a shot of the pair of them dressed as Homer and Marge Simpson.

Good luck! The presenter - who is sitting this season out due to a year of personal problems - wrote on the micro-blogging site: 'All the very best of luck to the little fella and @hollywills for the show tonight. Lots of love from the big fella [sic]'

He captioned the shot: 'Happy Birthday Homer. Love, Marge x'

A source close to Dec has also insisted that he and Ant aren't going anywhere as a twosome.

Responding to rumblings that Dec was getting a flavour for presenting without his long-time TV partner, the source told The Mirror: 'There is no rebrand of Dec as a solo act, he is very much looking forward to working with Ant again in 2019.'

The latest activity from the duo comes as Ant and his girlfriend Anne Marie Corbett have reportedly jetted off on holiday, amid the return of the much-loved ITV show.

The pair are said to have flown off to be alone, away from the hoopla, to enjoy some winter sunshine and celebrate Ant's birthday.

A source said, according to The Sun: 'Ant wants to escape the spotlight and let Dec and Holly have their moment on TV. This is all going to be a little odd for everybody — Dec because he’s not with Ant, Holly because she’s stepping in and Ant because he’s missing for the first time.'

'It’s not easy but Ant is conscious that a lot of people will be wondering where he is and if he is watching - and that will be an unhelpful distraction. So he and Anne Marie have chosen to get away from it all and have some time alone together with a bit of peace and quiet.

'Ant will obviously miss it, but he hopes Holly does really well. They’re all friends and he’s certain she’ll be great - he’ll be rooting for them all.'

Claim to fame: Fleur rose to fame on The X Factor in 2014 where she finished as a runner-up. During her time on the competition, she became the first contestant to reach number one with her energetic performance of Uptown Funk. The talented songstress went on to release her hit single, Sax, which reached number three in the UK charts.

Occupation: TV's The Governess

Claim to fame: Anne has made a name for herself as a television quiz personality on The Chase, where she is nicknamed 'The Governess'. She also hosts her own game show, Britain's Brightest Family.

Age: 30

Occupation: Actress 

Claim to fame: Sair stars as Alya Nazir in Coronation Street and joined the cobbles in 2014. The actress will be following in the footsteps of her co-star Jennie McAlpine, who appeared on the 2017 series.

Occupation: TV presenter  

Claim to fame: Nick rose to fame on DIY SOS in 1999, which he still presents now. The television presenter has also hosted Who Dares Wins and 5-Star Family Reunion. 

 

RITA SIMONS

Occupation: Actress

Claim to fame: Rita rose to fame in EastEnders as Roxy Mitchell, first stepping foot in Walford in 2007. The actress' character was sensationally killed off in a dramatic New Year's Day episode in 2017, where she and her on-screen sister Ronnie tragically drowned in a swimming pool accident. Rita's uncle is Billionaire businessman Lord Sugar.

JAMES MCVEY

Occupation: Singer 

Claim to fame:  James is lead guitar and vocals in the British band, The Vamps, formed in 2012. The four-piece boy band have toured with Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
