«Breaking News» Woman who was found dead on a Utah road has been identified 20 years on

A woman reported missing in Utah 20 years ago has now been identified as the victim in a gruesome cold-case murder.

Lena Reyes-Geddes, from Austintown, was named as the unidentified woman who was found in 1998 along a road in Ticaboo with a fatal gunshot wound to her head.

Her body was found covered with plastic bags, wrapped in duct tape, tied with a rope and placed inside a sleeping bag before being wrapped in carpet.

Her remains were left inside a sleeping bag covered in a piece of carpet. A passerby on the road discovered the body.

Since then, investigators had been trying to identify her and since now she has been referred to as the 'Maidenwater Victim'.

Reyes-Geddes was 37-years-old the last time she was seen alive, according to the Charley Project, which compiles information about missing persons.

She was supposed to travel in April 1998 to Dallas and then to Laredo, Texas, but it was never clear if she ever arrived there, according to the group.

Her husband reported her missing to police six months after she left to travel to Texas, according to the Charley Project.

'The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is very grateful to give our victim a name and peace to her family,' the sheriff's office said.

We are also grateful for the State Bureau of Investigation for their help'.

Last month, agents from the Utah State Bureau of Investigation asked the public to help identify the victim and provide any tips that could lead authorities to her murderer.

It is understood that Investigators were working on the theory that Reyes-Geddes may have been a victim of serial killer Scott Kimball, who is currently serving a 70-year prison sentence in Colorado.

Kimball is believed to have killed about 25 people, but has previously denied involvement in other cold-case killings.

But in a statement to FOX13, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office said that the suspect in Reyes-Geddes' murder died by suicide in Nevada in the early 2000s.

In a renewed appeal for information in October, they issued new photos of the crime scene including the sleeping bag that her body was found it and other items

Kimball is still alive and is currently serving a 70-year sentence after pleading guilty in 2009 to the murders of four people.

They said on Thursday: 'The suspect of this murder committed suicide in Nevada in the early 2000s'.

The sheriff's office said they are grateful to the State Bureau of Investigation, which is part of the Department of Public Safety, for their help in the case.

'The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is very grateful to give our victim a name and peace to her family,'  a post stated.

In a renewed appeal for information on the case in October, detectives said Geddes body was found by a passerby 38 miles north of Lake Powell in April of 1998.

The victim was thought to be 37-45 years old at the time of her death.

She was approximately 5 feet tall, weighing 112 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

DPS said DNA tests determined she was of Native American or Hispanic descent.

They had claimed that several pieces of evidence are similar in nature to the murders Kimball has been convicted of.

They said that Knots used in a killing Kimball has admitted to are similar to the ones found binding the body discovered in Utah.

Investigators also determined Kimball was in Southern Utah around the time the murder occurred.

They hope by solving the Utah case, other killings possibly tied to Kimball can be resolved.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
