A US airman has been stabbed to death, allegedly by his Japanese girlfriend who is said to have told police that she attacked him when he tried to break up with her and threatened to kill herself afterwards.
Master Sgt. Nicholas Vollweiler, 35, was stabbed to death in his home near the Yokota Air Base on Friday. Police arrested 27-year-old Aria Saito at the scene.
According to Military.com, she told Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department afterwards that she and Vollweiler were 'dating' and she attacked them because they had recently broken up and it had gotten 'complicated'.
'I stabbed a man I was dating with a knife, aiming at his right neck,' she allegedly said.

Vollweiler, who was from Pennsylvania, had tried to break up with her but she did not want their relationship to end, according to local media.
She threatened to kill herself before attacking him, it was reported.
Vollweiler was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries. He was a member of the 374th Security Forces Squadron.
It is unclear how long he had been in Japan or in the Air Force.
A representative could not immediately provide his service record when contacted by DailyMail.com on Tuesday morning.
Colonel Otis Jones said he would be 'missed' by the community.
Vollweiler was a Pennsylvania native and a member of the 374th Security Forces Squadron
'His family, friends, fellow defenders and all of the Yokota community are in our prayers during this heartbreaking time,' he said.
Vollweiler's cousin, Lou Romeo told WNEP, a photographer with the station: 'The first day he put on that uniform, he knew what he wanted to do.
'I regret not facing him one-on-one and looking in his eye and shaking his hand and saying thank you for serving and protecting us.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
