«Breaking News» Travel blogger Patricia slammed for posing on track Maeklong Railway Market Thailand

A travel blogger has defended herself after she was slammed for posing in front of a moving train just so she could capture the perfect snap for Instagram.

Social media influencer Patricia, who has lived in Australia, Spain, Sweden and Germany, posted the train snapshot on Instagram and critics responded by saying it was an irresponsible photo to share.

The picture was taken at the famous Maeklong Railway Market in Thailand, where vendors crowd the track and have to rapidly make way each time a train comes through.

Despite being a long way outside Bangkok, the dangerously-located station at Samut Songkhram has become choked with camera-wielding tourists - as shown by the number of people seen in her photo who are leaning in to take their own snaps.

The architect, who blogs under One Ocean Away, went further by standing directly in the path of the train, prompting anger among many.

Many were quick to point out how 'dangerous' her pose was, while others claimed her picture-perfect image could provoke copy cats

She responded by saying the slow pace of the train meant she was never in any danger.

'They said that it was really dangerous what I was doing. They were holding their cellphones filming how the train was coming at 5 km/h speed while screaming at me saying that I was at risk,' Patricia wrote in her caption.

'Well, to be honest at that speed even a turtle would have saved its life...'

However, many were quick to point out that copy-cats could be in real danger if they tried the same at many similar train-track markets around Thailand, where the trains move at much faster speed.

'It's a stunning shot but we can't tell from a photo how fast this train is going. People could (and will) easily get the wrong idea. Railway tracks are not meant to be walked on, no matter how slow the train is going. Not hating, but just wanted to put in my two cents,' one follower wrote.

Another chimed in: 'Ya [sic] but you don't mind to do anything for social media content even it's dangerous.'

'Risking your life for a pic is commitment,' another wrote.

Another said:' but if you tripped or something you would have been dead.'

'Probably not the best to promote photos like this. There are tons of kids who get in hot water attempting to emulate pics like this. Just my two cents,' one commented.

Another wrote: 'It's great that you've created such a crazy photo, now let's hope there are no kids out there stupid enough to copy it.'

And another said: 'I was there too and I think it's inappropriate because if everyone would do it - is it still ok? I don't think so. If you're not allowed to go on the rails when the train is approaching then please do what they say - you're still in a foreign country.'

However, Patricia - who has more 30,000 followers - has defended her actions, saying: 'First, this is not dangerous at all, and second I am not the first and won't be the last person taking a photo here or any other dangerous places.

'It is on ourselves to be aware of the dangers and the limits. Even if I would not take this photo, people would anyway. I am not a person who takes a big risk just for a photo, I value my safety and life.

'It was not that risky. The train was so slow that you could have walked ahead easily. It was rather dangerous how close it passed in front of the people and stands. It was like 10cm.'

Despite the backlash, many didn't see what the fuss was about as they praised the blogger - who's currently exploring South East Asia - for taking the 'glamorous' shot.

'I love this shot so much,' one said.

'You look so calm compared to everyone else lol....it's a great shot,' another wrote.

One posted: 'Worth the risk! The picture is amazing!'

And another commented: 'Dangerous or not, the picture is amazing!!!'

Since sharing her picture on November 7, the post has attracted more than 18,000 'likes' and over 1,000 comments.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
